Monsters of Folk: Folk Super-Group

This is one of the better records that I have heard in years. Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and Solo work, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and M. Ward of his solo work all share the microphone. Conor and M. Ward sound a bit like themselves on their showcased tracks but very plesing tracks nonetheless. The tracks for Jim James sound different than Morning Jacket but again very good tracks. The music ranges from country, folk, folk-rock and something in between. If you are a fan of any of these guys, BUY THIS RECORD.

A band of super stars who don't quite live up to their band name. That's not to say that this is not a good album...I just don't think it is possible for these guys to hold deliver on the high expectations their collective fans had going into this thing. Alterna/folk/country fans should enjoy it but don't expect too much. 4 stars.
