Unbelievable story on the business of Base Ball.

EVERY baseball junkie esp. those who love stats & fantasy leagues MUST read this book. It's much more than just the story of Billy Beane; it's about his dramatic viewpoints on how to select & dump players.

You can always learn something new

I have been watching, playing, and reading baseball for 50 years, and this is the one book I've read that made me really rethink the way I look at the game. Lewis may be a bit too uncritcal of Billy Beane and his methods, and I'm not sure everything Beane advocates really works, but it does make you think. And many of the principles can be applied to work and business beyond baseball.

  Moneyball by Michael Lewis

Must read for any fan of baseball or statistical analysis. The book goes into detail about how highly regarded baseball statistics (Batting average, Home runs) are not actually the best predictors of a players value. Conversely, previously undervalued statistics like OBP (On Base Percentage) and Pitches Per Plate Appearance can yield better bang for the buck.

  Moneyball hits a home run

This is one of the best baseball books I've read in a long time. Even if you can't stand the Oakland A's like I do, it's still a wonderful story. It gives the average baseball fan a completely revolutionary perspective on the back room business of baseball. It answers the question of how a team with one of the lowest payrolls is capable of winning and keep winning year after year.

  Great book for baseball fans

I loved this book! Michael Lewis is a great business writer who gets the "story" out of successful or unique industries. The book is incredibly interesting because it explores how different baseball is from other businesses, as well as other professional sports. While it gives a lot of background and history, the information about current players and managers keep the book current. Moneyball provides a fresh look at the management of an old game, written in a very readable format.
