Monarch of the Glen: The Complete Collection (DVD, 2007)

This BBC series remained totally entertaining right up to the last episode of the last season. The beautiful setting in which this was filmed is just as captivating as the plot lines. What makes this as well as many other BBC series so interesting is getting to see the European flair and way of doing things; perhaps it's how they serve their food, or how they speak, or what they wear. This series transports you to another time and place, and makes you sorry when it's over. It's one of my favorite BBC series.

I loved the scenery in this and the good clean fun. There are so few family shows out there and I think this for the most part is one of those. The whole concept of a son coming back unwillingly at first to help with his father and staying to help the estate. Then of course all the people involved in a small village and how intertwined lives become. This is truly a feel good type show which gave me many hours of laughter, amusement and enjoyment. Only one where I cried totally and it was for a worthy cause. At first I didn't like that the main characters change after a few seasons but you come to like them also. Just not quite as much. I bought it because you get hooked after watching one and then just need to complete the whole show.

Discovering Monarch of the Glen was like finding a diamond in the waste heap. So much of television today is just that, garbage. Monarch is truly a deliteful series that shares the human experience in a setting that is both magical and down to earth. The characters are wonderful and the setting is beautiful. We love the series so much that we bought the whole set. We are also planning to, someday, visit Scotland! I would definately rate this as a 5 star series!

Leave it to the BBC to produce treasures like this. An ongoing BBC series where you just have to see what happens next.
The series reminds me of Northern Exposure but with a Scottish twist.
Full of eccentric characters dealing with the ups and downs of trying to keep a 400 year old Scottish castle from going under in the 21st century.
If you need to take a break from your busy life and get some comical relief this series will get you there.

The inhabitants of Glenbogle are a joy to watch. Although this is set in the Highlands of Scotland, the people could be from anywhere. The scenery is magnificant and its a very funny series.

I purchased this item on a report from a friend that this was a good show from the UK about the Scottish Highlands. Indeed it was and my wife loved it, the purchasing of and deliver of was done very professionally and I was most satisfied with the transaction.
