Modern Tribal Bellydance (DVD, 2008)

I had high high hopes for this DVD as friends in my tribal bellydance raved about. It did not disappoint. Asharah moves beautifully. Even during the isolation techniques, she still looks like she is gliding thru air. I like her style of teaching even though it differs from the format that my current Tribal and Cabaret instructors uss. This DVD has so much offer even if you don't like Tribal Belly dance. This is a good workout and strengthening video. The isolations are broken down effectively and the combinations taught could be added to almost any belly dance DVD.

My only compliant is that Asharah does not teach in front of a mirror. I mention this because I have several instructional DVDs in my collection all but two (including this DVD) do not teach in front of a mirror. Even though I am an advanced dancer, I prefer to have a mirror in front of me and I would prefer my teachers (from the DVDs or my actual instructor), use this technique.

The DVD is full of amazing instruction! It really breaks things down for the belly dancer who would like to fine tune their muscles and gain control of the precise movements in belly dance.
I personally tend toward a more traditional style of dancing, but this DVD it a great asset for any style of belly dancer.

Absolutely LOVE this DVD! Asharah has done an excellent job of breaking down movements and building up to more complex layering techniques. I highly recommend to those who want to push the envelope in their tribal bellydance journey of learning. I like the extensive warm up and cool down as this is such an important step that some instructional DVDs overlook. And the warm ups are applicable to bellydance movements which is another feature that I love! She has offered her insight & teaching at a very reasonable price that no one could refute. Thank you so much Asharah for this gift!!! On a personal note, I'm not very fond of the industrial type music that is used, but the "strobing & ticking" can be applied to more traditional bellydance music as well. Overall, a must have to add to your tribal bellydance collection!!

Ashara's instructions were clear, and easy to follow. Great Drills choreography. This video is good for perfecting your movements, and is a wonderful workout! LeleleleleleYUP!
