1. Look

Some may not think the look of a club has anything to do with why you should purchase it. I find that if you don't like the look of the club, you won't have full confidendence when you are looking down at it ready to strike the ball. The Mizuno wedges look great. They bring a fresh design to a club that normally has been pretty boring for the past 25 years. They have 4 different types you can purchase, Raw Haze, Black Nickel, Chrome, Raw Black Ox. The version I purchased was the Raw Haze. The color is amazing on it, it's somewhat pearlescent in the sun, changing color based on the angle. Over time though, the club will rust. When I look down at the club, I see great classic wedge style, similar to Cleveland, yet the color sets it apart and gives me all confidence that it belongs in my hands. The rusting is a big part of why I purchased this club. I play in the evening after work when the sun is coming down at an angle and can reflect off your club and blind you. Wit the rusting though, that goes away.

2. Quality

Some people put a lot of stock in brand, I do to a point, but not always. Mizuno has been making clubs for golf professionals for over 25 years and is on and off the number 1 blade played on the tour. If that doesn't tell you something about their quality, I don't know what will. The wedges are "grain flow forged" with the exception of the mp t series of wedges. Taken directly from Mizuno's US website, "Mizuno's Patented Grain Flow Forging™ process enhances the flow and tightness of the grains in the metal, maximizing the strength of the clubhead without sacrificing the soft feel, and ensuring greater consistency from club to club and set to set." After playing the club for a few rounds you start to understand what they are talking about. These wedges do not feel like the bargain basement $30 wedges that feel like they could break every time you hit them. They are from a longstanding sports enthusist company that stands behind their work.

3. Feel

For as long as I can remember, I have been playing Cleveland wedges. They are great and never thought I would find something that had softer feel or quicker action on the green. I was wrong. With my 60 degree Raw Haze wedge in my hand, I can stop the ball on a dime and feel every minute detail of the ball striking the clubhead. Normally I just dismiss the hype put out there by club companies and their catch phrases. With the grain flow technology though, the hype is true.

4. Price

This is where it gets tricky. I'm a big cheapskate when it comes to purchasing clubs. I'm certain that I will eventually get banned from stores like Austads for going in and using their hitting simulator for the past 4 years or so and never once having purchased a club from them. With that said, I look high and low for the best possible price on clubs I can find. With the newness of the Raw Haze, I was hesitant to even start the hunt. Normally it takes around a year or so for clubs to lose their newness factor and people to start selling them cheap on ebay or stores to drop their prices because companies are coming out with newer models. I bought this wedge for $70 new on ebay, what a deal!! All of you who know wedges, a new one can run you anywhere from $70 - $150. I was surprised when I found this club for so cheap. I can only assume that not many people have tried this club, thus the price

  My Mizuno Raw Haze

I love my Mizuno MP T Series Raw Haze wedges which have such a solid feel about them along with thier anti-glare finished look. I believe the grain flow forged process is the reason for the feeling of what I call buttery smooth explosion. I now have switch my complete set of irons, wedges and putter to Mizuno. Give them a try. You will notice the difference.

Mizuno gives me confidence. I would buy more clubs from this brand if my
budget fits. I have not tried Mizuno's other clubs such as drive club,3-6
irons, 7-9 irons. But I kind of feel that higher price has its reason.
Somebody has spent time and money to research the best way to make the clubs
and so they have to charge more money for recover it. I don't know the other
Mizuno clubs will fit me or not. At least, I love the wedge club I bought.
I bought it at "but it now" price instead of bid. I am glad I did.

Mizuno MP T Series Raw Haze 52 degree
Review created: 06/02/09

Great club overall. At least a 4 out of 5 rating. Feels more solid upon compact than other 52's I"ve swung. I've been a single digit handicapper for over 20 years and I would recommend it for only 12 handicappers and lower. I've played three rounds with it in the bag so far and have used it very handily on about 6 out of the nine shots I've taken. My only "complaint" is easily remedied as the shaft feels a little long for the head so I will probably end up cutting the shaft down a half inch to 3/4 inch and swithching to a half cord grip.

Mizuno Raw Haze Wedges 51*, 56*-13 bounce
Review created: 04/08/08
by:

These wedges are easy on the eye, but more than that, they really perform. Great stopping power and distance control. I've used both Cleveland 588 and Titleist Vokey wedges before, and I like these better. The Mizunos feel lighter than the Vokeys, more like the Clevelands, and are easy to manipulate on delicate shots around the green. I really like the way the club enters the turf on longer shots. It doesn't stub or bounce back, and you can feel the quality of the shot and predict the outcome by the feedback through your hands. One more thing, the 56* sand wedge is so versatile from a variety of lies, even tight ones, that I've retired my 60* lob wedge and put another hybrid in the bag. I think you will really like these clubs if you are a handsy, feel type of wedge player, but if you use more of a body swing with your wedges and are going for distance rather than finesse, you might want something heavier like the Vokeys, which give a lower ball flight.

I respect the Mizuno equipment and liked the looks and I was looking for exactly the lofts that they were offering. I felt as though I got a fantastic deal on some great clubs.

Want to help your short game?
Review created: 03/25/08

Being a 7-10 Handicap I usually draw the ball back 2-3ft on my approach shots to the green. With these wedge's you will notice great stopping ability and now I have had to adjust to drawing it back 5-10ft depending on how hard you swing. It might sound crazy but I feel more confident with these wedges because they just feel right when you hit em. I do suggest playing the ball a little further back in your stance with your shots to the green and watch the ball dance when it draws back towards the cup. I highly recommend these wedges if you want to lower your scores...fore! Just my .02

  Improve your score!
Review created: 03/03/08

I needed a gap wedge and a lob wedge to complete my set. I am partial to Mizuno, since my irons are Mizuno. Boy, I sure wasn't disappointed! I now have a club in my bag for every distance. These wedges are highly recommended and are sure to improve your handicap.
