I am 65 years old and have currently an 8.9 handicap index. I have tried many wedges over the past 50 years. However, the Mizuno MP Series wedges were the first wedges with the new square grooves I had tried. They are simply the best wedges I have played for shots under 80 yards (my clubhead speed has dropped). I currently have a 60 degree and a 56 degree in my bag. They both allow me to aggressively hit down on running pitch and chip shots more than ever before because I know the ball is going to come up with some spin on it and that will let me hit the ball to the putting surface and have a little check-up action before it releases and runs out. This is a great help on fast greens and when pitching to elevated greens. They both are also the best wedges I have ever played from the sand. Once again they cut through the sand well and provide a very helpful level of spin on most shots. Their clubface seems to wear rather quickly. I have used a groove tool to keep the grooves sharp. I bought the 56 degree model used and I am now considering investing in a new 56 degree club because of the significant wear accumulating on the face. I liked them so much that I bought a 51 degree model. This one did not work out so well for me. It was the same length as the 56 degree club and I did not get the distance I wanted from the 51 degree set up. The feel and spin were both great on the 51 degree club but I wanted to hit it further. So I had it bent to a little over 50 degrees, added an inch to the shaft, and put a Golf Pride grip on it. This made the club a little too heavy for me and I didn't gain enough yardage from the changes. I think the club will be fine for a younger, stronger person but I'm just not that strong. The feel was altered too. I liked the original feel better. The club was put back up for sale on E-Bay with all the changes described so I hope a younger, stronger person bought it and will get a lot out of it. These are great wedges and I highly recommend them. Good luck, Scott.

The 52 degree is a great club to work from 100 yards and under - great weight flexibility and spin make this a must especially when matched with other Mizuno Irons. Wont be dissappointed!

The MP60 has helped my short game immensely, particularly to avoid hazards. It provides great ball loft with minimal roll on the green.

  Love these wedges
Review created: 12/18/08

I am a huge Mizuno fan, currently play the MP 37 and MP 60 irons. I have the MPT 56 and 60 degree wedges. I wanted to try the Mp series wedges and purchased the 52 degree on e-bay. I must say it is exactly what I had hoped it would be. Its very similar to the mpt series with some subtle changes. Little smaller face, more of a players wedge. I think that this is the best wedge on the market and seems to be a kept secret, most Mizuno lovers use the MPT or the MPR series, but try these and you wont be dissapointed. I will have the complete set for the start of next season.

  excellent wedges

My son plays with Cleveland wedges and I always liked the feel of those. The Mizunos are every bit as good as them, if not better. They feel solid through the strike. They impart serious spin, which I've never been able to do with my own set that I built myself from components. The topline inspires confidence over the ball. Around the green I believe I can get up and down from anywhere with a flop or a hop and stop chip with the 60 degree, or I can run it up with the 50. The 54 gets me out of the sand and up near the hole every time. I highly recommend the Mizuno brand.

My Husband LOVES the new clubs!!
Review created: 06/20/08

My husband wanted a new set of Mizuno's for his birthday. I surprised him with these, and he couldn't be happier! He thinks that they are possibly the BEST clubs he has ever hit. He's played 3-4 times since getting them and his score has dropped by an average of 3 strokes!! They are highly recommended to anyone interested in buying the "perfect" set of irons!! His last set of clubs were from Ping. He has since decided that Mizuno is a higher quality and better hitting club. The forged club adds a much better feel and result in the stroke. If you are considereing Mizuno MP-60's, we recommend them with the highest referral!!

The Mizuno MP and MP-T series wedges are great clubs. I am a novice player and have had the best results with these wedges. I am a golf club fanatic and try all kinks of clubs. I have tried many different wedges and these perform the best for me. Give them a try and I'm sure you will enjoy them as much as I do. Just remember to get the right bounce for the shots you frequently need to make.

Feel where it counts the most...around the greens.
Review created: 05/25/08

I decided to go with the 54*/9* MP model. Since coming off of the older 588s & 485s Clevs, there is a noteable difference in "feel" that I couldn't imagine before. Sure, the material makes a difference, however, by making this move, I have realized that having gained the "touch of feel" I found to have it's most impact around the greens.

This wedge by Mizuno has added a positive in my short game in regards to the confidence and the ability to place the ball closer to my landing target on the greens in the chipping arena.

Bear with me while I'm on my shallow soapbox.

You just had a "warm fuzzy", that overwelming satisfaction, to have your 43-foot putt end up 8" from the hole, it's the same "Warm Fuzzy" that I get when I have this wedge in hand.

Depending on the cover of the ball your using, your ball will check with a noticable reaction. I did have to invest time around the practice greens in order to adjust to the characteristics of this wedge.

The learning curve was a whole lot shorter than I expected, and even with my poor techinque, this wedge just made me look good. Acceptable tight groupings, consistant distance and no unexpected hot shots off the face that ran away.

If you try to get too cutesy in your technique, your going to know it...not even this wedge will reward me in a crappy attempt to B.S. the ball.

I have found that the weight of the Mizuno wedges are fairly light (anything compared to my old 60* Clev tank is light) and so, the adjustment in the physical memory had to be adjusted and that was a learning curve that I had to deal with.

The face is soft, it is made from 1025 carbon steel, and you will need to love your equipment esp. these wedges if you want them to last.

If you are the type "A" golfer, who doesn't care to clean the face off each shot, your going to short live the life of this instrument in a heart attack hurry.

If your the type "B" golfer, and expect your stuff to stay new as the first day you got them, and scratches are reacted as if it was your car, your not going to enjoy these at all.

The type "C" knows that these are ment to wear out, but we do not hurry the process.

In the hands of the right operator, these are a deadly weapon.

Thanks for hanging out,

JHSchwarzkopf

  Mizuno Wedge 58*
Review created: 03/30/08

Mizuno makes a great wedge. While I may be partial to Cleveland wedges myself (particularly the CG10 series), this club was almost enough to have me cross lines... ALMOST. The wedge does hit great and has that "buttery" feeling you hear everyone use to describe a Mizuno. However I felt the sweet spot was a bit too small, especially if you try to use this club from anywhere but the fairway. Perhaps a bit sophisticated for my skill level as a bogey golfer.

  Mizuno is King!
Review created: 03/26/08

I have 5 Cleveland 588 wedges all bought off of Ebay. I bought a 56-08 Mizzy MP series because I wanted a different bounce. I've noticed immediately that I love the feel of Mizzy wedges. Cleveland feel great if you hit it exactly in the sweet spot and have a very smooth tempo. The sweet spot on a Cleveland must been directly opposite to the logo on the back and exactly the same size. I've noticed that 588's spin better on pitch shots but when you open the face on the Mizuno it really spins the ball to a stop. I played in Florida quite a bit and didn't realize how important spin was. Everything stops pretty fast on Florida greens. Now I live in San Antonio and transitioning to water-starved hyper-drained hard as a rock greens has really made me focus on putting a ton of spin of the ball and trapping chips correctly. Mizzy's 56-08 is absolutely dynamite for sole versatility. On tempo pitchs from 20-40 yards the Cleveland definitely puts more spin on the ball. For bunker play(with Mizuno) I find that I can really open the face and slide my blade under the ball well. Best of all every shot feels good, which inspires confidence... leads to closer putts. On full shots the 588 really requires a perfect strike on the face, otherwise the 588 seemed to control me. With my mizzy I can hit a 90 yard shot high, low, and fade. I really feel that a smooth tempo and a good plan for contact lets you control the shot. Best of all it was only $27 after shipping.

  Mizuno MP-R Black Nickel 54*10
Review created: 02/25/08

If you're looking for a bargain on a great club with a sole reminiscent of Callaway's PM grind, then check out the MP-R Series of Mizuno wedges. You'll get the same beautiful Japanese bronze finish that Black Nickel is famous for and the same spactacular performance of the newer MP-T series.

These are truly great wedges!

One of the BEST wedge brands out there !!!
Review created: 08/09/07
by:

I have two Mizuno MP Series wedges in my bag, a MP T Black Nickel 58* and a MP Series 54* Chrome, and they will stay there until the gooves wear out. They replaced my Cleveland 588 56* and 60*. Although Mizuno wedges are not as heralded as the Vokeys and the Clevelands, MP Series wedges perform just as good, if not better. I especially love the feel at the impact on those longer wedge shots. It's just pure & solid. Once you get your distances down with these wedges, it gives you the confidence that you're going to stick it close everytime. When you have to open the clubface, the soles on these wedges set up really nice as well.
MP Series wedges far exceeded my expectations. Excellent clubs !!!
