I have been in search of a set of transition clubs from game improvement to a forged club. I have always heard that Mizuno makes the best forged clubs in golf. My local golf pro recommended that I try this set because of the muscle cavity back that provides some forgiveness. I got fitted by Mizuno and took the plunge. After several sessions on the range I decided to take this set to my home course. The first few rounds had mixed results and I went back to the fitter. He was very helpful and told me that the MP 57 sweet spot is a little above center face toward the heel of the club. After a few swing adjustments I was hitting the clubs better but came to the realization that this was too much club for my game.

Review:

This club plays a lot like a blade and the club head is light compared to the game improvement clubs I had used prior. The topline is thin and the cavity back provides very little play on mishits. As stated before the sweet spot was not in an ideal spot for my swing and caused more than usual struggles with players irons. With that said I would have to say that I have now experienced a true fitting and the Mizuno rep was top notch. As for the feel of the clubs I also know the butter feel everyone raves about in their reviews of forged irons. On the few pure shots I had with these clubs it was simply amazing and is probably why I stuck with these clubs longer than I should have. I can only speak from my experience so I would recommend this set of clubs for low handicaps (8 or lower).

Wow! With the 6.0 shaft these clubs let you work the ball any way you want to! The MP-57's are the best clubs i have ever hit. I had the Mp-32's with the 3,4,and 5 club being the MP-60's and i thought i had the best set then. I was wrong! The MP-57's are WAY better then them hands down! With being a Professional Golf Instructor I think anyone with a low to mid handicap could and should give these a try! You WILL fall in love with them on the first hit.

  Good as Advetised

I am a life long golfer with about a 7 hdcp today. Bought some custom forged irons about 3 years ago and fell in love with them. So much so, I couldn't think of anything else I would like. Given their reputation as one of the best forged irons on the market today, the fact that they were very close to my specs, and the price, I bid on them and won.

They arrived exactly as advertised, and I went straight to the range with mixed results. However, after having them regripped and "tuned" a bit, I returned to the range ans was very pleased. They have a soft and consistent feel with virtually no recoil (if you hit it in the middle of the face). By this I mean they are everything you would like in a club, but they are not for everyone. With the smaller head there is less margin for error as with some of the larger models today. You do not have to be a pro to hit them; however, if you play only once a week, there are a good number of quality clubs available that are more foregiving and more enjoyable to play.

In summary, the Mizuno MP 57 irons are not for everyone, but they are as good as advertised - high quality construction, great traditional look, consistent and easily allow you to work the ball either way. Great club for both the purest and the avid golfer. And, an even better club when you get a deal on them from Ebay.

I love these irons. I'm an 18 HC but can still hit these great. I switched to these from the Taylor Made 300 Forged irons which are excellent clubs too. I wanted to upgrade since my TMs were about 7 years old. I only wish I would've switched sooner! They're very responsive and when struck purely, it's like butter. Minimal vibration and sting on mishits too.

MIZUNO MP57 Grain Flow Forged Irons
Review created: 12/10/09

Excellent MIZUNO Irons!! Great shape for the better player and forgiving too! The forgiveness of the CUT MUSCLE cavity provide unparalled forgiveness in a forged blade. I think this is one of MIZUNOS better efforts in years...so good i am going to buy a couple more sets to store away.

MP57's with TT SL Stiff shafts.
Review created: 11/21/09

I'm a golfer that swaps out clubs often. If it doesn't work well, then I try something else that will. I have been fitted several times, but good club fitting is also about experience on what works best for you. These irons are a "no brainer" for me. I play 2 upright and 1/2 longer shaft. These Super Lite shafts are great. As a senior, mid-handicapper I normally play a regular or A flex shaft; however, these babies hit right down the pike. I'm starting to see a little wear on the some of the faces after a couple of seasons; however, it will be quite a while before I trade this set. Maybe when I reach 70, I'll be looking for forged Mizuno's with senior flex shafts!!! Great clubs.

  Mizuno MP57 Iron Set Situation
Review created: 11/06/09

First, let me say that I emailed the Seller yesterday and as of today, they have not had ample time to comment nor time enough to resolve the situation.

I purchased the Irons because I love the Mizuno MP 57 design and shot making capability. And according to the description and photography presented they appeared to be nearly new.

Upon arrival the 3-6 irons were as described. (10 rounds of use and in great shape) However the 7-PW appeared to have been played on a very hard surface and most likely more than 10 rounds.

The 9 iron has a gouge on the sole (probably a rock), and the PW has two unexplainable gouges on the hosel. It appears to be deliberate damage. Perhaps a Power Drill? I've seen anything like it before. I have to believe that the seller was unaware of its presence.

I have played them 10 rounds and according to the matched serial numbers they are authentic Mizuno MP57 Irons.

I researched locally and the damaged refered to above can be ground and polished out for approximately $85.00. I'm not certain yet that the PW gouges can be repaired.

The seller has a no return policy that was clearly reflected before purchasing and they have a decent Sellers Rating.

None the less, I have requested either of a return of $85.00 to me, or an exchange to a nearly new set having been played 10 rounds or less as was origionally advertised. My preference would be a new set of Mizuno MP57 Irons. In this regard I remain hopeful that we will find a way to resolve the situation.

  Mizuno MP-57

I really like them (set was 5-PW). I've only had them for about a week or so and played just one round. My previous set was a Spauling Executive set 2-SW that was made in 1977 and I'd played them since I was maybe 15. I'll keep them forever just for the memories. The set I'd used before that was a really old set of Burke's that my Grandpa used. I highly recommend playing on older style clubs when you are younger. I can hit blade or blade-sized clubs without fear. Cavity backs look massive and ridiculous to me at address. The MP-57's are kind of in the middle. Definitely the largest head club I would ever use.

The guy I bought them from had them bent 2 degrees upright and I LOVE IT (PW = 45* instead of 47*, etc). Only thing that kind of sucks is that my 52* gap is a bit far away now. We'll see.

I've never had a problem getting the ball up in the air and have always used a club lower than a situation might call for (9 instead of PW, etc.) With the 57's I was dropping the PW in from 120 and stopping it on a dime. Ball mark was within 2-3 feet of the ball the five or six times I hit the green. Shot the best 9-holes of my life with a 42 on the back nine. Hopefully I'll get it into the 30's sometime.

Received Mizuno MP 57 iron set on 8/28/09. Looks new and very nice looking. Will enjoy playing this set with my Callawy X-14 irons that I presently use. Very surprised with the prompt delivery. Wish the iron set had been carefully wrapped with plastic on the iron heads to protect from nicks and scratches. Otherwise, I am a very happy customer. Thanks a lot.

I'm using Mizuno MP-57. Actually, this golf club is my first one I bought. I had been using Taylormade, but I like it more than Taylormade. When I hit the ball, the ball flight was boring/soft landing. Also, the feeling on my hand is so great! I seem make hole in one! Sometimes I used my friends golf club, but I couldn't feel same as MP-57. I couldn't compare with the other golf club.

Actually, this club for the advanced person. I'm not an advanced person. I stated a month ago but it isn't really hard to play. If you looking for this club, I highly recommended this club.

Thank you for reading my review.
