IntroductionI just got back from playing a round with my "new" (used) MP-30's, and I've had an epiphany: never over the course of 35 years playing this game have I experienced such pleasure hitting a golf ball. I read the reviews here before deciding on the MP-30's and totally agree with those who rave about these irons.
My driver swing speed is 95 mph, which puts me right on the cusp between Reg. and Stiff flex shafts.
My MP-30's have Dynamic Gold REGULAR shafts, and wow, are these babys smooth. If you already have a pretty good swing, these irons want to be swung smoooooothly. There's just no need to add any umpff to it.
My Australian Blades 7 iron flew about 150. My MP-30 7 iron is about 155-160, with less effort needed.
I love the bit of added forgiveness the small cavity back gives this club. Slight mis-hits lose about 10% of their distance; not too bad.
You've heard it before, but I kept saying to myself out on the course today: "butter. soooo sweet". Really, if you've never had the pleasure of striking a golf ball purely with great forged irons you are missing out bigtime.
These clubs make shaping shots very, very easy. I almost just have to "think" fade, and it fades. All of this is not to say I didn't hit some clunkers; I'm still adjusting to the new sticks, but the majority of my shots were sweetsweetsweet! I'm ecstatic to have discovered this, but bummed that it took me so long to take the forged irons plunge. If you're shooting in the 80's or better, do yourself a favor and pick up a set. There are some great deals (under $250.) I don't know how beneficial these clubs would be for the 90's and above players; maybe they would be; the feedback from mis-hits is definite and specific.
Just don't wait until you're 46.
