Mizuno Fli-Hi Driving iron 18 degree

The Mizuno iron is a legitimate driving iron that can still get a good bang off the tee. The head design leaved a huge sweet spot and make the club very useful and easy to hit. I'm a 16 handicap and use it regularly. Distance wise, I hit a driver about 260, I hit this iron consistanctly 225. For a utility iron, you can even work the ball with some ease. I have an extensive collection of clubs I try out on a regular basis and this is one of the best.

  Mizuno Fli Hi 24 degree

Contrary to prevailing attitudes, not every golfer can hit a hybrid. If you hit irons well, then a hybrid with an iron look and low center of gravity may be the answer. Mizuno's Fli-Hi clubs do the trick. I did change the shaft from the Exsar shaft because the stiff felt like a board. I re-shafted with a UST Irod regular flex and the club really came to life. It is interested because I hit stiff shafts in everything else. Anyway, for the price, these are excellent iron-like hybrids for those golfers that are hybrid inhibited this will do it. Great club. Mizuno club-making is the best!

I am thorougly impressed with this fairway iron. I am not real accurate with woods in the fairway, but this has bailed me out. I recommend this club highly.

HiFli TZoid - Hits a Natural Draw
Review created: 04/27/08(updated 02/11/09)

I have been playing with a set of Mizuno MP14's for 15 years. I hit the MP14 4 iron with good trajectory but the 3 iron is more demanding to hit with good trajectory consistently off the turf.

The TZoid HiFli series are very easy to get airborne. I am in the high single digit handicap category and I hit these fairly long with a draw. So far I haven't been able to work these because whatever I do with them the ball flies with a draw - which is not bad for a handicap player.

They are not versatile for working the ball if you are in the mid single digit handicap and below. If you tend to slice the ball with the longer irons, these are the right kind of clubs to have. I have the 24 and 18 degrees in 'regular' flex. I bought them on eBay with stock factory shafts. I normally use a 'stiff' shaft for irons & woods. I was thinking of changing them to a stiffer shaft but decided to leave them alone because particularly when hitting from turf I find it easier to square the club-face.

Overall I like these clubs a lot which are very well designed. They have clean lines and very consistent feel from any type of lie.

Lower handicap RH player friends (6 and below) who tried these clubs tend to hit the ball to the left. These clubs have some offset and they are set up with a closed bias at address therefore it's easy to hit a natural draw. It's probably possible to change the ball flight pattern by using an extra stiff shaft with a high bend point to eliminate the excessive draw but IMHO this is a mid-to-high handicapper's club.

I agree with the previous reviewer about the Exsar graphite shaft from Mizuno. This is a very stiff shaft and probably has very little torque. It does feel like a pipe for my purposes but stronger players may like these. If you are familiar with the feel of True Temper Dynamic Gold S300, you are better off with Exsar Regular - otherwise you may find yourself hitting the ball low & right and wonder what's wrong with your swing.

For the HiFli TZoid's I recommend the stock steel shaft from Mizuno which is a True Temper Sensicore - plays with no harshness & vibration.

I have taken all the fairway woods out of my bag. Replaced my MX-25 4 iron with the TZoid 24. I am looking for the TZoid 21 to replace the 3 iron. I am using the TZoid 18 replacing the 2 iron or 4 wood.

Mizuno Fli-Hi 18* best club in my bag

I was a 13 handicap two years ago and played with my old set of irons that had a 2-iron on vacation at my parents. I shot 78, 77, and 79 in 4 days of play. When I returned home, I went looking for a 2-iron to add to my iron set. I ended up buying this Mizino 18* w/ stiff Exsar shaft. I took out my 3&4 woods. The next weekend I played in a tournament and was on the apron or on the green putting for eagle on 4 of 4 par 5s due to the long approach shots with this club(no eagles, but did get 3 birdies). Just an incredible club for me. Last year I carried my driver and this club, no other hybrids or fairway clubs. This is a 190-240 yard club for my 100mph driver swing. It is very accurate, but quite hard to "work", ... draws or fades are hard to execute since the club just wants to hit it straight (usually a good thing!). Last year I won the A-summer league at IBM playing from the tips (7100 yds) and almost all par 4s were 430-450, so I was hitting this on a lot of 2nd shots from 190+ yards. I won my flight in the year end championship. This club is the most consistent in my bag.

  Don't run

Decided to buy and use it instead of the normal iron 3. Compared with the iron, shaft is 1 inch longer and this is certainly not an help.
At the end of the day, decided it was not worthwile to carry it in my bag. Will stick to my old, traditional Taylor Made utility.

  Fli-Hi 3-Hybrid
Review created: 01/07/09
by:

I needed a club to replace my hard hitting long iron and this hybrid 3 iron did the job for me. I like the fact that it is a good driving iron on short par four's. I never even hit it before buying it but I found the club to be easy to get use to. I still am getting to know what it can and can't do but so far it is worth it. You can never go wrong with a Mizuno iron.

Although it was a used club, it showed very little wear. I bought it for a xmas gift and my son was very pleased. I put a new grip on it and it was practically brand new !

  Good Seller!

I bought the Mizuno Fairway Wood a few weeks ago. Fantastic club. I received the club as described and in new condition. Was very pleased with this particular product. I would have prefered it arrive a little sooner, however, it was received within the alotted time through the selected delivery service. This is the first time purchasing a product through the website and it was very easy to do so. I would be happy to make another purchase in the near future. I had been looking for this particular product for some time without a lot of success, so when I saw that there were 3 or 4 of the clubs available, I thought that was great.

  Mizuno Hibread 18*
Review created: 12/08/07
by:

unlike all other hibreads Mizuno builds theirs with an all metal forged head. The club is very attractive. At 73 yoa my driver (10.5*) clubhd spd is 80mpr yeilding 185 on the fly w/roll out 225-235, off a tee I can hit this club (18*) 175-185 yrds. Off fairway I've yet to master. I would say I can hit it any better than my 3 or 4 iron which I trust time/practice will make the difference. I also own but no longer carry a TaylorMade 22* hibread which I didn't care for. On shorter par fours with the club off the tee I experience streight shots that allow use of short irons for your approach shots and long par threes, again using a tee, its an excellant club. Mizuno, arond since 1906, makes a quality product, I play their MX-25's w/graphit shafts.

Mizuno HI-FLI very nice club, have three
Review created: 12/05/07(updated 12/05/07)

It has a very comfortable balance and swing. I have found that I hit them straighter and farther than my regular clubs. I'm very glad I bought them. Great clubs. They fit very nicely with the rest of the Mizunos in my bag.
I also bought three of them for my wife. She also like them very much :-).
