Mixed Nuts (DVD, 2001)

Not a typical warm fuzzy christmas movie. So wacky and silly. When I first watched it, I almost did a double take. It was so "out there" I couldn't believe what I had just watched. Now I just laugh... It's hilarious.

This is a really fun and nontraditional holiday movie that has a very surreal feel to it (very likeable, but VERY eccentric characters and many contrasts between traditional holiday images and Christmas as depicted in LA). It also has a GREAT soundtrack PACKED w/ an interesting mix of holiday music. If you like the acting styles of Steve Martin and Adam Sandler (and have the ability to suspend reality for about 90 minutes) I highly recommend you watch this movie.

Phillip (Martin) is the well-intentioned, but rather disorganized leader of Life Savers, a Venice Beach based suicide prevention hotline. It is Christmas Eve and a series of... well... WACKY events unfold that lead him and his staff (that includes Madeline Kahn) and thier friends (including Sandler and Juliette Lewis) on a wild goose chase that ends up revealing the identiy of the infamous seaside strangler, who has been the subject of concern of many of thier hotline callers... Although it is all quite by accident...

If you like Steve Martin, Madeline Khan and Adam Sandler you are gonna love this movie. Me and my kids love it!!! This is a wacky Christmas movie which is about people who work at a suicide hotline, threat of being closed down, and some people who contact the hotline.

Very well written and excellent casting. Oddball characters that represent many walks of life. You just can't help but be drawn in by these lovable misfits. A suicide hotline run by people even more screwed up than the callers. The story rolls along smoothly with sight gags and hilarious dialogue. It's worth seeing just for Chris's(Liev Schreiber) dance scene alone! I loved Louie(Adam Sandler) and the Grape Jelly song. Of course, what would a Christmas movie be without the traveling fruitcake! I laughed myself sick!

I really like this movie, very funny and it shows not everyone will have a normal christmas. A great comedy to enjoy with the family during the holidays or just every day! Buy a copy..you won't regret it

I had purchased several copies of this DVD but my family members keep 'borrowing' it and it's never returned. 'The Dogs'!

If you enjoy random humor, then you will enjoy Mixed Nuts. The cast is superb and the story line is adorable. This is a fun movie for the whole family.

I've watched this movie over and over and I think it's one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. However, some people don't agree with me but I don't care. I love this movie.

i never recieved this package, i looked at the tracking number, and used it on the web site, but it shows it as delivered, but i have never recieved it... i don't know what has happened here but i am looking into it.. i don't know if my mailman might have taken it, or if the user sent it to the wrong address

I bought this movie because I couldn't find it in any store, and it's a great christmas movie. It's funny and disfunctional, and the cast is amazing! Whats funnier than Steve Martin trying to run a suicide hot line during christmas with a serial killer on the loose? Great find and buy. A+

I bought the cd before christmas for a gift. They are big Steve Martin fans and really enjoyed the movie.

Tired of It's a Wonderful LIfe and The Christmas Story? We were and fortunately our family discovered this one (Mixed Nuts) a few years ago. Of course I love most of Steve Martin's movies. I highly recommend this film.

Love the funny "dark humor" but, why couldn't it be in Widescreen?! EVERYONE is going 16x9 now so it looked pretty bad on my 120" system. But regardless of that, It has a great star lineup + I think it's becoming a holiday classic that fits right in with in there with titles such as Planes, Trains and, Automobiles starring Steve Martin and John Candy. The lack of WS availability in NTSC region 1)knocks the rating down for me but otherwise, if you don't take the movie too seriously you'll have some good laughs!
