Hot filmmaking in many ways
Tremendous acting across the board whether a workman star like Hackman, a multi-faceted talent like Dafoe or a familiar face that keeps landing the ideal role like Frances McDormand (Raising Arizona, Fargo) make this portrayal of the civil rights strife a riveting, frightening imposition into a viewer's conscience. The story of 3 young civil right workers killed in Mississippi in 1963 launches into the tempest and never subsides until the final credits. If you grew up in the 60's amid the civil tumult this film may hit just a bit too close to home for comforts sake. Another rocker-wannabe Alan Parker classic (Midnight Express, Evita) to engrave its mark on your brain forever.
