  Introducing Jim Phelps....
Review created: 06/05/07

The second season of Mission:Impossible starts off with a new leader hearing the taped message. We are introduced to Jim Phelps (Peter Graves who would star in the next 6 seasons) and given no explanation as to what happened to Dan Briggs. But that is how 60's TV worked, actors were replaced w/o any fanfare.

This release is the best quality I have seen of these old episodes. The picture has been cleaned up and the dust and debris you usually get on syndicated TV is gone. The soundtrack is mixed here in 5.1 sound and sounds incredible. The set consists of 7 discs (3 or 4 episodes each) and they are in slim-line cases. The shows are in order of their original release dates.

Once again Paramount has deserted any extras for this set. No Bonus Features, No Liner Notes, No airdates, NO commentaries. Please give the fans a little something extra.

I wish I could rate this as a 4.5 based on the lack of extras. Again, though the plots and techniques the IM Force uses to catch or expose the bad guys are entertaining and thought provoking. Better than the movies of the same name and other violent filled junk on TV today.

  Sweeter the Second Time Around
Review created: 12/31/09

While on a visit with my sister, I was flipping through the channels while sis was in the kitchen and I saw a very familiar face on the tv. It was an old re-run of a Mission Impossible. WoW! I was saying to myself. I eased back into the recliner and totally enjoyed the episode. So much that, when I had returned home, I immediately got online with ebay and started bidding on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: THE SECOND SEASON and THE THIRD and THE FOURTH. Yes folks, I ended up getting all three seasons and I'm having a great time watching every exciting episode. Watching MI for the second time since I was in high school not only put me through a time-warp, it was showing how exremely well written and well acted this show was. The team members put together are really that, a team. This show was ingeniously clever, tongue-in-cheek, well acted and way ahead of its time. I am totally enjoying every disc that I slide into the player. I know that I'm in for a fun time. I give this SECOND SEASON OF MISSION IMPOSSIBLE a thumbs up and 4 stars out of 5 all day long. Charlie

  Great

High quality DVD. Seller was very professonal and helpful. Pricing was at or below all others and shipping was free. I had a chance to deal with their customer service and could be more pleased with the attention and help they provided. I mistakenly ordered two Mission Impossible 2nd season DVD sets. They sent me a free return label and deducted the price of the DVD set from my PayPal account.

MI Season two~ Mr. Phelps takes over~ very good~
Review created: 07/20/08(updated 07/20/08)

We now have a new head of the IMF~ Mr. Jim Phelps~ Peter Graves~
this season is very good they take on the typical thieves, liars, third world leaders in fun fictions countries~

Two of BEST of the episodes are~

the Photographer where a pro communist NUT has his own personal bunker and plans for an atom bomb~ to be dropped on NEW YORK City~ his CODED messages which has all the info~ but the CODES are unbreakable~ so the IMF makes him believe the
the BOMB has been BEEN set off ~ what fun~

and ONE OF THE BEST ALL TIME IMF EPISODES ...THE TOWN~ JIM accidentally stumbles across a town full of spies and fifth columnists~who carefully "plot" to kill foreign visitors~ the town doctor played by Will Greer drugs him and convinces Rollin he is dying of a stroke~ but using his eye lids one of the only parts of his body he can control using morse code the TEAM gets Jim's messages and moves in for the one of THE most fun AND exciting plots and rescues~ fast paced and excellent plot and acting by the entire crew.

This series is still fresh and the plots are top notch~

I GIVE IT A SOLID 8 OUT OF 10 FOR FUN IMPOSSIBLE PLOTS THAT KEEP US ENTERTAINED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS~\

IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE~

  Better than first...

i swear, that Peter Graves is the best IMF team leader ever. He seems more humane than Dan. The plots were great. It was fun to see the Condemned. I just watched the 88 version of the episode not too long before.

Quality color-real entertainment--so many epidsodes--great for traveling..

I saw season 1, and just HAD to get season 2. I've already gone ahead and bought season 3.

They don't make shows like this anymore! It's great!

  Just like I remember

This set is great. Mr. Phelps and the gang are exactly as I remember them. The gadgetry is not nearly as high tech as we are used to today, but the acting and plots are well ahead of their time ( except for the "cold War" mentality). This set brings great memories back vividly. The music score and incidental music are worth the price of the set alone. Highly Recommended!!

  Quality TV: It's NOT Impossible
Review created: 02/12/08

Forget the lame Tom Cruise movies... there's more great plots, evil 3rd world dictators, rogue terrorists, turned double agents, and pure entertainment in this series -all for less than the price of the 3 re-make movies. The second year of Mission: Impossible finds the series at its best, with Peter Graves joining the cast as leader Jim Phelps, and a veritable "Who's Who" of 60's & 70's guest stars as baddies (William Windom, Anthony Zerbe, and Will Geer just to name a few). Some of my friends who were a bit too young to remember watching the series when it was originally broadcast, are stunned that TV of this quality used to be fairly common. Well worth the price of admission!

Classic Television Stands the Test of Time
Review created: 09/04/07

Long overdue for DVD release, Mission:Impossible was certainly worth the wait. The stories are humbug, wonderfully impossible humbug and I enjoyed every minute of them. (I remember being totally unimpressed by the movie "The Sting" thanks to the weekly missions of the I.M. Force).

I could not get over how well crafted each program was, especially by today's standard for network television. They were better than I remember them: Excellent acting, excellent production values and the fact that they had access to standing studio sets just gave each show the look and feel of major motion picture... these were certainly 'little movies' as compared to just a t-v series. Transfers are excellent, though I would agree with the other reviewers that more bonus features would have certainly been welcome. Don't let that keep you from viewing this set... hopefully Viacom will follow through with the remaining years and the Australian Mission:Impossible spin-off/remake series, too. I need good copies of those. :) Great stuff, classic Television.

Mission Impossible - The complete Second Season DVD '07
Review created: 08/06/07

It just brought back memories of a TV series that I enjoyed watching many years ago. Now, although the quality is great and I received the DVD series within reasonable time, it was a tad over-priced. BUT, I placed the bid, so that issue belongs on me. I guess we really don't make a comparison of relavant worth until we use the product, unless we're just collecting something. To sum it up, I have no substantial complaint. So, my rating is positive. 'nuff said!

  Mission: Entertainment Probable!
Review created: 08/05/07

What a great TV series to provide on DVD! The story lines are full of twists and turns. Sure, there are mistakes... as in all TV shows. Shrug them off and enjoy the drama. There is plenty of that! The show ignites your imagination. Besides that, teenagers can enjoy these episodes without you fretting over whether language and sex were included.
