I bought this Mio handheld GPS about a month ago and tried it out, which worked surprisingly well. This unit features a personal computer as well as instant Gps tracking which lets you know exactly where you are and is very detailed in street names. It is portable as well as stationary for vehicle use, and is made to be carries around on you whether you are riding a bike or walking through the park. I have really no dislikes about it except that i wish i had this system about 4 years ago for my Florida trip. Overall this is a very complex systems that is easy to work if you have a little computer skill.

) the mitac is unique with it's built in gps receiver which I use for road navigation and also with the Starcaddy golf program. I purchased this item as a back-up for one I received as a gift several years ago. Unfortunately the item I purchased was not operating properly and was returned. I eventually found a newer model, the mio P550, that I purchased on ebay and am quite satisfied.

Mitac Mio 168 PDA/GPSI love the Mio's powerful PDA capability, and its 3.5" vertical screen and 1.8" horizontal screen is great so you can see where you're going for GPS navigation. Other GPS 3.5" screen as well but they tend to be wide not long like the Mio. The detailed Mio map is great, all the streets and side streets are named so you really know where you're going.
The screen is sharp and clear, and the route is very readable. You can pan through the map to see what's around you, really cool when you want to get familiar with a new city. And then you can map a new destination by just clicking on it and choosing Navigate.
The route recalculation is decent taking about 10 to 15 seconds to recalculate, but its GPS receive could be a bit more powerful. It's a little slow to pick up satellites but once it does, you're all set.
I love the MP3 capability and the picture viewer capability. Just download the songs and the pictures and you're ready to go.

GREAT PRODUCT , MIO SEEMS TO BE VERY ACCURATE AND TO THE POINT , BUT I AM HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING THE MAP SOFTWARE FOR THE UNITED STATES.
OTHER THAN THE MAP SOFTWARE IS VWEY HARD TO FIND , THE ITEM IS EXCELLENT.

Good starterThe 168rs is not bad although there are a few draw backs , such as having to physically change maps on trips which can be a pain and you can't plan trips in advance . I would like to see software that gives you the option of truck routes too due to the fact I drive a tour bus and there are just places you can't go with a 13 foot high vehicle . It will get you where you want to go and is fairly accurate .
I bought this unit for parts as the connector on my other unit came away from the mother board , that is a common problem I understand
For general navigation is is fine and I like the pda features and the ability to use an SDIO card for internet connection .
To me mp3 players are a waste of space as most people have good sound systems in there vehicles ..
I would buy Mio but only if they changed and improved some of the features I have mentioned
