Minx by Julia Quinn (1996, Paperback, Reissue)

I am a fan of Julia Quinn's. Her Regency Romances are intelligent, and the characters are likeable and believable. The plots are usually very similar, but that is the mark of the genre and no deficiency on the part of the author. I had a hard time getting into this novel. I was a bit put off by the heroine at first. It seemed to me almost like the author was trying too hard to make her heroine different. Calling her Henry and wearing men's clothes and embarking on a completely stupid attempt to drive the new Lord Stannage from Stannage Hall was all too great a reach for me. However, I felt after a few chapters all of that smoothed out and from there on it was a pretty good book. I enjoyed it, and I am sure anyone who loves Regencies will also.
