MINI FEEDER GREAT WITHOUT FOOD PACKET
Review created: 07/09/06(updated 04/11/08)
I am a hummingbird rehabiliator in the Phoenix& Scottsdale areas of Maricopa county and places beyond for 18 years. I find these little feeders great for rehabilitation purposes; but not too useful outside, as you have to fill them so often. The red food that comes with commercial feeders, does absolutely nothing to attract hummers , nor does it have ANY good ingriedients for the birds. Please make your own food to this recipe: boil 4 cups of water on stove
or in microwave. Quickly add 1(one) cup regular white table sugar, stir until dissolved, cool down, and put in feeders.Fill large feeders only 1/3 to 1/2 full, as any more will spoil before used. You can store any excess in a clean glass jar with a lid in your refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or until it gets cloudy.
