One of the most interesting books I've ever read.

'How the Mind Works' is not beach reading. It is a well written and fascinating look at, well, how the mind works. As a computer programmer, I particularly liked how the author contrasts the working of the brain with how a computer program would appear to do the same thing, but could never duplicate what the brain does.
The chapter on how the brain interprets Magic Eye images was interesting as well.
I've purchased several copies and given them to friends and family.
