  Exceptional!!!

This is an exceptional and easily read financial non-fiction book. We read this for a book club and I read it within two days. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for pointers on how to save and increase their accumulation of wealth. Although at times the examples were a bit redundant, the authors achieved hammered the ideals of savings and consumption into your head. I will definitely use many pointers from the book in my finances.

Who wouldn't want to be the Millionaire next door?

I have just started reading this book, as my husband stole it from me! This was recommended at a local real estate tool seminar. So far it is very concise and easy to read with quick suggestions on things to do daily to put yourself in the Millionaire status or at least a better situation than you might be in. Even my husband of 14 years who has never read a book in all these years is reading it! If that doesn't tell you something.

  Excellent reading

This book is full of great information about the actual habits and thoughts of the millionaires in America. Most surprising is the fact that most millionaires don't live what we have come to believe is the "millionaire lifestyle." The authors make a very clear distinction between those who accumulate wealth and those who display wealth. The research data confirms that those who display wealth most often have the least true wealth (i.e., net worth) because they accumulate the debt that goes with extensive buying. My biggest complaint with the book is that in documenting their research findings, the authors provide far more facts and data than I wanted. This gets tedious and boring at times. However, I have found the book to be excellent reading for anyone who truly wants to be a millionaire...and is looking for ways to make it happen.

Learn from the average millionaire in this book

Great book on learning how the average investor became a millionaire. Instead of trying to follow in the footsteps of billionaires like Donald Trump, be more realistic and work to become a millionaire first!

Get answers to you questions such as:
Who are rich in this country?
What do they do?
What do they drive?
How do they invest?
How did they get rich?

Very good book that was an enjoyable read!

COntrary to the opinions of others, the millionaire next door is a saver, not a consumer. I loved the book, the empirical data behind the statements and the plain way this was written. It was sinple, clear and great

This book takes you beyond MTV cribs and Lie Styles of the Rich and Famous and paints the portrait of the true American Millionaire. It is a great motivator, disproving all the skepticism about becoming wealthy. Should be required reading for every high school student.

  Useful, good perspective
Review created: 11/07/06

This book was recommended to me by a friend, and it turned out to be a pretty good buy. Very well researched, this book explains some habits that wealthy people (wealthy people=high net worth, not necessarily 'living the rich life') have about spending, investing, living day to day, and so on. The perspectives are very valuable, and the stories/examples are interesting. I enjoyed it, and suggest it to anyone interested in investing for their future and the futures of their children. Only downside: the authors sometimes throw TOO much numbers and raw data, and it doesn't always mean as much... Just read it and the book is clear enough.

Major premise of the book: Not everyone can be Donald Trump or Bill Gates, but by living a reasonably frugal life (and teaching your children to do the same) you can put yourself on the path to becoming a millionaire, with a net worth over $1 Million, by retirement.

This book has some great insight into the minds of the wealthy. The figures and $ amounts are a little outdated, but the book has a great message. Budget, Budget, Budget! And invest what you save!

Millionaire next door worth every penny!
Review created: 06/11/09

This book is a must read for anyone who is not a millionaire but wants to become one. It is a case study of who the millionaires are in America (not by name but by charateristics). To be a great basketball player all you have to do is what other great basketball players do everyday. Well, to be a millionaire all you have to do is what other millionaries did to get there and what they do to build their fortunes. I am going to become one of them (a millionaire not a basketball player).

This book is great - it brings to light the fact that conspicuous consumption does not indicate wealth. It you want to be rich you have to work hard and spend less than you make. It isn't glamorous, but it works.

The slow shipping didn't really bother me, but when I received the book, the pages were mildewed. EEEeeeuuuwww. Oh well, at least it was cheap! I rubbeed a cotton ball with bleach on the pages, and enjoyed the content of the book.

  Excellent Book
Review created: 01/03/08

I read this book back when it was originally released and thought it was excellent. I actually learned some valuable lessons which have helped me in my life since. I let someone borrow the book shortly after I completed it and they never returned it so I purchased another off of ebay so I would have it in my collection when I decide to read it again.

  The Millionaire Next Door
Review created: 08/06/07

I decided to buy the book after listening to a financial expert. He mentioned the book, so I felt the need to read it. Although I was already doing several of the things the Authors suggested. It helped to understand why it makes sense to do it. Following the directions that are in the book may not make me a "Millionaire" But my credit cards are all paid off. And if I can't do cash, it will just have to wait. I am too close to retirement age. I just wish I would have read this book sooner.

I liked this book but not as much as the Millionaire Next Door. It's not as interesting or story telling. I still would recommend reading it after you read the Millionaire Next Door though.
