Million Dollar Baby (DVD, 2005, Widescreen)

Riveting movie that deserves all of the praise and accolades it earned. Few movies are as complete, as well designed and written; and few movies are as well acted. Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman combine for an incredible performance. That's the true beauty of "Million Dollar Baby" - rather than rely on big budget explosions and graphics, it is driven by acting, by story and by emotion.

Most importantly, the film is real. The acting is so fine that it comes across naturally and the audience cant help but become emotional. Furthermore, the realism extends to the boxing and fighting sequences - rather than a Rock IV / Drago vs. Rocky fight, the sequences are superbly designed and even performed by actual boxers and prize fighters.

The movie moves in many directions - but all naturally. With worse writing or acting, the direction might feel forced; but Eastwood makes sure that everything progresses smoothly and intelligently. There is much more to say - but I would prefer to keep from spoiling the plot.

What I will say though is that there are perhaps more enjoyable films - ones you watch mindlessly and enjoy for various reasons... but there are few films that are complete or more satisfying. And there were no such films during 2004.

This is a good Clint Eastwood Movie with Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. It has won awards for best actress, best supporting actor and best director. It is rated PG-13 but don't think the teenagers will enjoy it. A movie about determination. Add to your Clint Eastwood collection or Hilary Swank collection or Morgan Freeman collection.

Everything you heard about this film is true. Clint Eastwood's greatest film. His best acting performance ever. I was moved mearly to tears several times. It's the most heart wrenching movie I have seen in a long while. Truly a masterpiece, and deserving of all the positive reviews it has received. Hillary Shwank is superb, and Morgan Freeman is great as he always is. A must see movie.

I thought it was very depressing, good acting and all, but I didn't like the story. I probably will not watch it again.

I like this actress which is why I bought it. I just did not enjoy, I thought it was very boring. It did make me cry, but I guess it was a little to dark for me.
All the hype about it made me buy it, and the previews did look some what good. I appreciate all what this actress did to fit the part, her body was awesome, not an ounce of fat.

Awesome Movie! Academy Award Winner .. Million Dollar Baby, excellent/like new condition.... also, this combo of Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Hilary Swank (who won her 2nd Oscar for this awesome role as a boxer) makes this a keeper... one you hold onto and watch again!

Best movie that I have seen in ten years. Swank actually learned to box for this film and broke her nose. Morgan excels in any venture that he is part of, and he has an incredible voice. Clint plays the role of a divorced man who was not much of a father/husband and longs to have a relationship with his daughter who never forgives him for his failings. Swank fills the hole in his heart left by the absence of his family. Crushing ending so get out your kleenex.

With all of the previews and hype over this movie, i really expected a lot more drama and action, unfortunately. I mean, it was good.. just, it seems they put the best parts in the previews.

It's easy to turn this discussion towards the right-to-life issue, but let's put that aside for a moment and consider the movie's merits. A tightly written screenplay with superb acting, I felt something for every single character - even the stupid redneck family. While it didn't leave me wanting to try my hand at boxing, it certainly did have me twisting in my seat, wondering what would happen next.

We can agree or disagree with the movie's final act, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a superb piece of cinematography.

This is another great movie acted and directed by Clint Eastwood. Hillary Swank also makes a stunning appearance and plays her character with grace. The plot was snappy and held my attention. There were also several moral issues portrayed in the movie, although i didn't agree with the outcome, persay, i thought it was tastfully done and leaves room for discussion with your children at the end of the movie. I would recommend previewing before allowig teens or ore-teens to watch.

I have been looking for this movie for quite a while and finally found it on ebay. It's a very good movie & I'm glad to have found it. I decided to buy it because I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

I like the things Clint Eastwood does as a director. I saw Grand Torino first and liked it and then saw Million Dollar Baby. I saw similarites in both movies. Eastwood plays a hardened character in both pictures but softens towards the middle of both pictures. Hillary Swank continues to grow as an actress. She plays a young lady with a lot of heart and character. Morgan Freeman continues his narration of the story much as he did in shawshank Redemption. I was hoping for a happier ending but I suppose the ending was more realistic.

Very sad but great movie. I relly liked this one. I was very sadden by the actual story line, but realized the truth in it. It can actually happen to a boxer.

I like that the movie was sincere. She wanted it, he didn't, but gave in. I think she touched alot of people, but made no difference in her family's view on who she was and how hard she worked to become who she was. I think it was a tragic but rightful ending.
Definaltey a must see..

Million Dollar Baby is a wonderful movie. We watched it anytime flipping through the channels (HBO). Now we can see the entire movie whenever we want. This is an excellent movie, over and over. This is definitely a winner. This copy is was actually for my dad. Believe it or not, he liked it, too... It's hard to find a movie where a 30 something, 50 something and a 70 something all enjoy the same movie. Great storyline, wonderful action. A not 'so girlie' movie, but yet not so violent that it is incomprehensible. This one is a KEEPER!

This is one of Clint Eastwood's best films and will undeniably go down in history as just that. You couldn't get a better cast for this movie. I enjoyed this movie very much and knowing that it's based on a true story makes it even more touching to me. For these reasons, and many more, I bought this movie. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good drama or an underdog movie.

When me and my boyfriend rented this movie we really liked it. Then it started coming on tv, but we work nights so we never got to watch it. We would always miss the beggining or the end. Now we wont miss it at all.

Clint Eastwood plays a boxing manager, all gruff and moody at the end of his career. The girl just wants to box, and after breaking Clint down, he takes her on as a lark, and she proves herself to be a great fighter. Great moments, plenty of action, good family movie, great date movie...guaranteed snuggle on the couch with this one.

There are some good movies that I like to watch again from time to time and this seller provided a good selection at reasonable costs, both saling price and shipping.
