If you are planning an Alaska vacation, this is it. Gives reasonable reviews of what to expect in services, places to stay, contact information and just makes planning the trip much easier. When you are thousands of miles from home it is good to have a trip plan. This helps you get it together and minimize unwanted suprises. Not sure you would need to buy one every year but every 3 years for return trips would be reasonable.

the book is wonderful. I am driving across the country and into Canada to live in AK. I have been to AK a few times and am syched to live there. This guide points out all of the interesting areas, gas stations, hotel/motels and inns. It's great! I am so glad I bought. Shipping was Fast and seller was very nice!

great bookIt was great to help identify the places we were driving. Other people had used one when they had driving thru Canada and said it was good to have one.

) Great book to have traveling the Alaskan highway. Mile by mile commentary without missing a beat. If you are a fisherperson, also use the Highway Angler by Gunner Peterso(e?)n. You will not regret either one.

This book is extremely helpful. We bought our first one in 1982 when we were transferred to Alaska. We bought one in 1987 when we left Alaska. Now we are heading up there again. I could hardly wait to get a copy. It literally tells you mile by mile what is at that location. Food, gas, hotels, entertainment and of course places to shop. The new web version should be very helpful although I haven't downloaded it yet. If you plan to travel the ALCAN, don't leave home without this book. It is well worth the price. I forgot to mention that it also covers intra Alaska roads also. If you ever want to take a road trip this is the one to take!!!!
