I KNOW THIS FOR IN THE 132 MINUTE VERSION LIVE FOOTAGE OF MY FATHER WAS CUT FROM THE MOVIE!! MY FATHER WAS SOOOOOOO PROUD TO HAVE HAD SOME OF HIS WAR SERVICE DOCUMENTED IN A MOVIE,ESPECIALLY THIS ONE WHICH IS REALLY A TRUE CLASSIC!! I AM ONLY GRATEFUL HE IS NO LONGER LIVING TO FIND THIS OUT. IT WOULD'VE BEEN SOOOOOOOOO HEART BREAKING TO HIM AS IT WAS TO ME!!

I purchased this movie for my father for Christmas. In interviewing him he disclosed that he absolutely LOVED this movie because of the story it tells. The history that backs up the movie, the action, the acting he thought was beautiful...He loves the crystal clear pic of the DVD, the digital sound, and the kaleidoscope of colors. Being a fan of "war movies," he dubs this the best film ever made.

Classic WWII movie, with great combat footage. Shows the excellent strategy and luck that the United States used to defeat the Japanese forces at the Battle of Midway.

I bought this item because I am into war history and know that this movie was full of true facts about the war in the pacific. this item focuses on the battle of Midway Island which proved to be the turning point of the war for the Americans against Japan. I feel that this is a classic movie that should be in every war buffs library.

Midway is my husband's favorite movie. He watches it every chance he gets on t.v., so I decided to find it for him for Christmas. I wanted the original, and was lucky enough to find it on ebay at a very reasonable price, and received it very quickly. Of course, we have watched it and my husband is to excited he has it to watch when he likes. He has a friend who is just as much a nut about the movie, and he called to tell him of the gift. Thanks for having it and it being so easy for me to find while sitting at my desk enjoying a cup of coffee.

Excellent movie. Had it on VHS, but could never find on DVD. Now I have the DVD and will probably watch this movie once a month.

Have it on Laser Disc. Dolby 5.1 makes it come alive. Covers the most important naval battle in WWII. Outstanding job of merging old navy films into the movie. Casting acquired the top actors available at the time. If we had lost this battle Hawaii would have flown the Japanese flag. As good as Patton. Have watched this movie more times than any other.

This is an excellent movie and pretty accurate historically. Some of the aircraft on the US side are not entirely accurate but all in all a good movie of the battle of Midway. Would make a great remake like Pearl Harbor, using computer graphics and more technological special effects.

Excellent WW II movie showing one of the turning points of the war by the Navy. Very pleased with the way the battles were merged with real footage of the real battles.

My collection of DVD's is small but this one was important to have. It has Hollywood mixed in with it but besides that, it is history. This movie tells the battle of Midway as it unfolds. The line-up of actors is impressive, both Americans and Japanese. I love this movie, as any war movie enthusiast would.

I am a WWII fan, and what they did for our country, and bought these for memories to remind me of the sacrifices these soldiers made...We should never forget what these brave men and women did for our way of life...Always remember that along with 9.11.01, and never forget!!!!

The stars are all over the place as we see BOTH THE AMERICAN AND JAPANESE side of the move to a major sea battle~ the tiny Island of Midway is the place~ the Americans have broken the Japanese Code and the Japanese with 5 Aircraft Carriers are headed to take over the island and win a victory to destroy more Allied ships. But the surprise is the Americans have broken the Japanese Code and know Midway is the "target" and have a major surpise of their own~ headed TOWARD them is a huge ALLIED~task force of undetected American planes, ships and Aircraft Carriers to defend Midway~FATE and luck have the Japanese in the air and nearly out of fuel with the attack beings~ I liked this movie because it shows both sides and it is easy to follow the plot~ very good special effects for this time and date~ MEGA STARS ROBERT MITCHUM, CHARLES HESTON HENRY FONDA, JAMES CORUBN GLENN FORD, I GIVE IT A 10 OUT OF 10 FOR GOOD SPECIAL EFFECTS, GOOD PLOT BASED ON HISTORIC EVENTS AND ACTING~

Midway was a fantastic movie with an All-Star cast headed by Charlton Heston and Henry Fonda. The movie followed the real life events very faithfully. Excellent overall ***** Five Stars Dig It.

Released in the '70's, this remains one of the greatest of naval victories and certainly holds the same for this movie.

The US Navy involved many ships for manuever and combat filming to make this an epic not seen since the '50's when so many WWII movies were produced. The newer ships are the only error that stands out.

The actors are some of the best and the action is none stop and very, very close to the actual events. A must for any collector or historian of one of man's greatest tragedies and, at the same time, victories over them.

Husband wanted this movie on DVD. He could not find it in the stores so he asked me to find it on ebay. We were pleased with the price!

This movie tells it all, what the war in the Pacific was all about. From our side and the Japanese, how much danger and risks were involved. The mistakes and the all important factor of luck that plays an important part in every great battle. The actors really played the famous characters authentically as possible. So many great well known and soon to be known actors in this movie. This was the most important battle of the Pacific war on both sides, we americans needed a big morality boost after the crushing blow at Pearl Harbor 6 months earlier. Boy oh boy did we get it, the whole story resembles a reversal of fortune. The Japanese took us by surprise when they attacked Pearl Harbor and we Americans took them by surprise when we attacked their 4 #1 aircraft carriers Akagi, Kaga, Soryu and Hiryu what a comeback. I answer to the question that this movie asks, "Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?" I would have to say we were luckier. SETH WETZEL

This is a great movie to watch! My parents particularly liked this movie as it reminded them of all the stories about the battle of Midway that they heard in their day.

A real must for the war movie lover! This movie is packed with huge stars, and a very accurate portrail of the battle. There is a bit of swearing in it so it may not be suitable for smaller kids. A great movie for the WWII fan!
