Firstly, a word of warning to intending buyers. Several sellers who are advertising this regularly are using very misleading advertising. They state that there are 7 episodes in this series. They even give the names of the episodes. In fact, there are only 4 episodes as I fouind to my dismay when I queried why I had only received part of what I had ordered. The others which are names are actually in series 8. I complained about this to the seller from whom I bought my set but they took no responsibility for the error, blaming an advertising company for the mistake. I'm not impressed. Despite my complaint, they and other sellers are still using the same wording. Much as I enjoyed the four episodes that I did receive, I certainly would not have bought them and paid international postage has I known there were only 4 episodes.
Having got that off my chest, why have I given a rating of excellent? For my tastes, it is hard to beat top class British detective programmes and this certainly is top class. Good plots, well acted and set in a lovely part of England. I really like the warmth that shows between Barnaby and his wife. Watch how he glows when something good happens to Joyce. There are some excellent guest artists to support the regular team.
So, if you are happy with the value, you will enjoy the product.

I am a long-time fan of British mysteries and the Midsomer Murders series is one of the best. The writing is tight and the characters are not portrayed as superheroes but as people doing an important job. The stories always have a twist although (tongue-in-cheek) with all the homicides it's a wonder that there are any people left in the county of Midsomer. Each episode is a stand-alone story but they are all stories that stand the test of time and replaying often.

We were introduced to Midsomer on PBS but couldn't always catch them on TV; we've purchased the entire series so that we can watch on our terms. Wonderfully done.

Great lighter murder mystery. Typically English, beautiful scenery, lots of red herrings, and a peek in life of a gentle police officer. I had seen other Seasons and wanted to see them all.

enjoy these english murder mysteries, but can't see paying almost $60.00 for them. I perfer watching shows that are not sexually graphic or totally off the wall with the story.

Love Midsomer

I love British mysteries in both books and dvds and this is one of my favorite series. I especially enjoy the quaint country settings in Midsomer. This is the first volume in the series without Sgt. Troy so I was a little afraid that it wouldn't be as good, but the new character is every bit as much fun to watch.
I highly recommend #7 to anyone who is fond of the genre.

Another great season!Way to keep the series going. Never the same ideas or crime situations. Mr. Nettles is a true legend in British film and screne and I think this is his best role he has perfomed. Bravo to BBC!

Midsomer Murders set 7 (2006, DVD)Culley Barnaby is finally being utilized instead of just being a fill in. The writter has her trying to set up a 10 year reunion with old friends only to find one of the friends who use to "pick on her" when she was younger turns out to be a murderer! This is one episode that keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering who is it? You'll have to watch it to find out...
This series also shows Troy's promotion and leaving the series. Troy helps with one last case and he will be missed dearly! Troy's replacement shows up late and has an attitude to boot. Barnaby's wife wants to help him out by letting him stay with them for a few nights as he looks for an apartment but Barnaby does'nt like the idea much. It's kind of comical to see how they handle the new arrival. He reveals to Culley how he hates the place, in not so many words, who inturn always tells her Father. Barnaby knowing this, confronts the new arrival and soon he realizes this isn't that bad of a place, especially with all the murders. Will he fit in? You'll have to watch and find out for yourself. Along with the usual mischief this series has change which was needed. Sometimes the sets can almost be predicted but this one twists and turns. Can't wait for series 12 to come out, but set 7 is definately worth watching.
