I was very disappointed in this book. I thought it was more like a sequence to the Coldest Winter Ever and it was the total opposite. I had very few good chapters and it was not something that I would expect from Sister Souljah. Save your money and check it out in the library if you really want to read it.

  Tremendous Love Story
Review created: 04/14/09

Sister Souljah, activist, entertainer, and best-selling author brings us her latest novel, “Midnight: A Gangster Love Story.” Souljah has a wealth of life experience. She was a global student, traveled throughout Europe and spent a considerable amount of time in Africa. Her experience and passion can be felt throughout her writing.

“Midnight” is a prequel to her best-selling novel, “The Coldest Winter Ever.” Even if you haven’t read “The Coldest Winter,” you will still enjoy “Midnight.” This compelling story is for people of all walks of life.

It is a love story about a foreigner, by the name of Midnight. Midnight had been raised in a wealthy Islamic African family. His father’s empire was attacked and Midnight was sent to the United States. He arrives in Brooklyn at a young age and fights his way to riches and love.

Truly a page-turner. This tremendous love story will leave the reader delighted.

I purchased the book because I like the author. The package arrived in a timely fashion, in good condition and I like that it was not wrapped so tightly I could not get it open

I thought this book was AWSOME.. I'm actually hoping that there will be another one after this. I think she should update the readers on what happend when Midnight went to Japan to get his wife, what's going on in their lives. What's up with Naja, his sister, and umma his mother. Sister Souljah, has captured the readers with this one as well as her other books. She a great author. I finished Mignight in 2 days. I bought the book because I read her other two books and they were great. AWSOME READ!!!!

I loved the book because it went into description about a character that played a part in one of her earlier books, "The Coldest Winter Ever". In the book he was mentioned in it made the character Midnight so mysterious and interesting. This book explains a lot about why the character is the way he is and how he became that way. I found out things about Midnight that I would've never known or imagined about him and the things he took part in throughout his life. This was definitely another great book from the author and I would love to see more books by her on the shelves.

I especially liked the way the book came packaged and wrapped. It was like a brand new book, and I didn't have to wait forever for it. So far every item that I have gotten off of ebay has not been a disappointment.

Can't wait for part 2. I was a little upset at the ending, but I understand why it was done this way. Midnight is so intense and yet so simple his story requires for it to be told in multiple layers.

My favorite quote of all time, which is found in "Midnight"
all the more reason to make the claim that
This is one of my all time favorite books!
Much more eloquently written than "Coldest Winter Ever"
Sister Souljah gives us a perspective never seen before in Black
literature...her blending of the past and the present setting in the
book flows seamlessly, and it keeps you captivated at the turn of each page...
all the women readers surely fall in love with Midnight within the first 2 paragraphs...I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

  Great In-depth look of Character
Review created: 07/13/09

The book "Midnight" offers a well-developed story of the mysterious character in Souljah's preceding book "The Coldest Winter Ever", Midnight. At first, I found him to be arrogant, but as I read, I think his struggle with staying faithful to Islam and being in an environment he doesn't understand the orgin of its conditions made him critical of everthing. Nonetheless, it's a great read. And if you enjoy Souljah past novels, you're sure to enjoy this one.

  A midnight love story!!!!!
Review created: 06/02/09

I thought this was a great book. It was not what I expected at all. Although I didn't like the end I felt like I was left in the middle of no where. Waiting to turn the page and find more of the story. But anyone can read this book and have a totally different outlook of Midnight, then what was described of him in the Coldest Winter. It also encourages you to look at how life maybe for others who are not born in the US. Over all a great book!!!!

the book is oddly interesting but boring at the same time. the story is about Midnight before he bacame a seller for Ricky Santiga from the " Color Purple". It explains the way he is and how he grew up. It also explains how he falls in love with Akemio. It is a must read!!

  EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS
Review created: 01/12/09

bought the NewPhone 74205 three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive phone. It has a 1M-pixel camera, video camera, and speakerphone. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.
