This Handheld Radio Is a good Option

I bought this radio a few months ago. I tested it for a long time and I can tell you that it is a good option for the price it has.
One of the features I liked most was the car adapter with the external antenna adapter. Since with the original antenna it has a very restricted range once you place an external antenna to it it becomes a normal CB radio with the advantage that it can be taken with you anyware.
One of the disadvantages that make it get a 4 out of 5 score is that it has no Noise atenuation or Noise Blanker, wich in a mobile radio are very usefull.
You can modify this radio easy and get 120 chanels.
I would buy it again if I needed a handheld CB
Hope this helps ....

  Great Compact Handheld Radio

I bought this radio a few months ago. I use if for off-roading, and it works great. I like the car adapter with the extenal antenna adapter that makes the radio range nice and clear. The channels on the radio are easy to read. The weather feature is great to get current weather conditions on the road. The compact feature is small enough that the radio will fit inside a cup holder, and it will not bounce around. This is a great handheld radio, and I would highly recommend this radio to take along in all your vechicles, as I do.

  Midland 75-822 Handheld CB Radio

The performance of the unit has been very good. There are two things I think would make it better. !. The battery charge light is only Red. Needs to change to Green when the batteries are charged up. Could use a little more volume. If I hold it down at arms length I have a hard time hearing someone trying to talk to me (Or make a ear piece standard equipment when buying the unit). This is with background noise

I like the size of this radio! But the range of it is only about 1/4 of mile..
I bought it for my Road Capt. rides, It's good for small groups, but when you get about 40 to 50 bikes spread out, you can't hear tail gunner.

Midland 75-822 40-Channels Handheld CB Radio

I love the fact that the Midland 75-822 40-Channel Handheld CB Radio can be used for about anything! Camping, hiking, hunting and at sporting events. It's cool feature is that it can be used to listen to NOAA weather forecast. It is a powerful little handheld that has features some big radios don't have such as the memory channels. The mobile hookup attachment to use in a vehicle with a mounted antenna is a slick feature. I'd recommend this radio to anyone that loves the outdoors and likes staying in touch with the group-family and friends while on a outing. For the reasonable prices these radios are selling at they are worth the money spent. Buy one or two it'll be worth it!

  Motorcycle CB radio

It is a great radio for use on a motorcycle, it ties in with our intercom system (ST-1 by Motocom), a bit of a hassel with the cables but the radio does work very will. The radio is tied into the bike via the 12v power and an antennas mounted on the sissybar.

  Road Trip
Review created: 06/05/08
by:

It worked perfect. Used a roof mounted Mag antenna for a road trip. Radio has good range with external antenna. Drove 2,000 miles and used channel 19 and weather radio. It helped avoid problem areas. Small size alowed it to fit well in a cup holder where it was easy to get to. It is easy to transfer to other vehicles or a motel room at night. Some times I just tossed it under the seat out of sight during lunch. Now I use it for and emergency weather radio at home. 8^)

It does a great job. Works well for a motorcycle although it is a little hard to find a headset for your helmet that will work with it . I ended up getting an iMC motorcom HS-130 that works great with it.

Nice little hand-held. Good size.
Extra money for tuning seems to be worth it.
Added channels are nice to have in a busy environment.
Programming is a little limited.
Scanning options should be expanded.

I have bought 3 of these all for my Bikes. With a helmet headset and wired into the bike with an external antenna they work great. They can also be clipped to your belt and with the little rubber antenna attached to it and an ear plug an extra rider and listen into the conversations or directions. We have used them durring our HOG chapter rides for the road captins to keep all the riders in the group safe. I would highly recomend them to all my friends. Remeber Motorcycles are on channel 1. Ride safe, Ride hard, Ride often.

As with any radio, the antenna needs to be good! Good little radio. Like all the creature features. Would only use as a travel CB vice a pro model though.

Midland 75-822 40-Channels Handheld CB Radio
Review created: 02/07/08
by:

I brought this radio for use on a RV caravan to Cabo San Lucas. I traveled with a group of 15 other campers and the radio preformed well.

Like - It was easy to use right out of the box. The small size of the radio when plugged into cigar lighter allowed for easy storage in cup holder. It was easy to connect to exterior Wilson antenna. The sound and volume are good, I'm hard of hearing.

Dislike - The limited range of radio. This seems to be standard for handheld CB radios.

  Midland 75-822
Review created: 02/07/08

The Midland units are user friendly and interchangable from mains to battery and in car charger, here in South Africa, hand held radio's are hard to get.
due to not being popular, I decided on this unit because of the above and range for open areas, especially in the bush.
I will definitely purchase another one

  Good for the price
Review created: 02/06/08

I love the power choices, and the size ot the unit, It feels solid and well built. The only thing I dislike about it is that for a mobil unit the speaker lacks volume, and is hard to understand voices when car is running. But as for the features, it has more then most of the more expensive CB units on the market. Great unit if limited to room and if needed for an emergency radio. Very easy to stow away.

Midland 75-822 40 ch Handheld CB radio
Review created: 02/05/08

I love the size of this unit, and the simplicity of the hook-up. Needs an external speaker. I wish it had an LCD that stays on, instead of the backlite push button that only allows the light to stay on for a few seconds. Overall it's a great unit.

I like the small size and not having to mount anything in my new vehicle. What I don't like is due to the size, it doesn't have the umph to push any power. I might be able to reach 1/4 to 1/2 miles. Probably due to the magnet mount though. Also, could have used better directions on operation of cb. Didn't say exactly how to get the battery pack off. I almost broke it trying to get it off.

I needed a compact radio to move between vehicles for traveling. This filled the bill exactly. Coupled to a mag mount CB antenna from Radio Shack I get execellent reception. I am amazed at how much can be put in a small package.

For the money, these CB radios (Midlands 75-822 hand held) are a real value.
I installed one on my Kawasaki Nomad motorcycle, and on my Sons Nomad.
They work quite well.
We used the mobile hookup and installed 50 inch antena, and Motocom head sets.

What's not to like about this little thang ? Transmits well, receives well, portable, compact and a lot less costly than a Cherokee. These can be modified too, but who'd in their right mind would do that????? I buy it again.
