      Don't Buy It!

Radio picks up too much electrical interference to be used in my vehicle. When I plug in the 12 volt charger, the interference is even worse! I have yet to sucessfully transmit to anyone and I hardly ever hear anyone talking.

I bought it because I wanted a CB not hardwired to the car to have something portable. I have yet to hear conversation. It seems CB's are getting a bit outdated nowadays though I still feel they are great when everything else brakes down like cell phones during 9/11 and hurricane katrina. Anything like this can cause a lot of outages to cell phone internet etc etc if they are nature based or terror activities and in emergencies such as these it is important to have another means of communication. As long as one has the right batteries and they are fresh and some to spare for back up CB's and Family Radios - Walky Talkies are good to have to stay in touch. I have not yet fully tested this Midland 75-785 Handheld CB Radio and will take it to the highway sometime soon to see if I get a response.

Needed something for motorcycle rides that would work with headphones. Stays quiet sound is good quality but weak and needs full volume. Better range that factory installed radio.

I got this radio to take with me during travel. It is handy to find out what has traffic stopped and how far. I replaced an older cb hand held that was 5 watts. The reception was not as good as my old radio. I put the antenna out the window and it was ok but better with an external antenna. I did get to use it on the interstate last month and I found out what I needed about a traffic jam. It did what I wanted at a good price and and is nice and small to handle. For the price, it is great. I really like the size, it is easy to store.
