The price, performance, and handheld configuration makes this CB Radio ideal for driving the logging roads where the trucks use channel 13 to broadcast their direction and location so that inbound or outbound vehicles can stay out of their way. I received it promptly and everything is what I expected.
This product looks and feels great, however, the range is minimal. I purchased it to use in my business within a range of no more 1000 feet. It fails to function in even that small of a range, much less the range that the description indicates. Move on to a better product unless you are looking for a non functional toy for your 2 year old.
Radio picks up too much electrical interference to be used in my vehicle. When I plug in the 12 volt charger, the interference is even worse! I have yet to sucessfully transmit to anyone and I hardly ever hear anyone talking.
I bought it because I wanted a CB not hardwired to the car to have something portable. I have yet to hear conversation. It seems CB's are getting a bit outdated nowadays though I still feel they are great when everything else brakes down like cell phones during 9/11 and hurricane katrina. Anything like this can cause a lot of outages to cell phone internet etc etc if they are nature based or terror activities and in emergencies such as these it is important to have another means of communication. As long as one has the right batteries and they are fresh and some to spare for back up CB's and Family Radios - Walky Talkies are good to have to stay in touch. I have not yet fully tested this Midland 75-785 Handheld CB Radio and will take it to the highway sometime soon to see if I get a response.
Needed something for motorcycle rides that would work with headphones. Stays quiet sound is good quality but weak and needs full volume. Better range that factory installed radio.
I got this radio to take with me during travel. It is handy to find out what has traffic stopped and how far. I replaced an older cb hand held that was 5 watts. The reception was not as good as my old radio. I put the antenna out the window and it was ok but better with an external antenna. I did get to use it on the interstate last month and I found out what I needed about a traffic jam. It did what I wanted at a good price and and is nice and small to handle. For the price, it is great. I really like the size, it is easy to store.
i purchased the midland 75-785 cb radio for our construction company to talk to our heavy equipment operators while they were working. the radios work very well the 12v power cord saves the batteries, we did need an external antenna to much cab interference. the radios are small easy to handle adding a hand held microphone helped alot the range is pretty good about 3/4 mile is as far as we have been apart so far, the nice thing is you can take them out and be portable on the job site using the battery power. i will buy more as we need them we have tried some cheaper brands not good results i rate the midland a 9/10 thanks i hope this helps!
Wanted a small radio to monitor CB traffic on the interstate in case of accidents. Thought unit would let me listen to truckers or anyone with a CB on channel 19 within a mile or so about traffic conditions ahead or lane closures. Talkie has very poor receive inside cab of my Company Chev truck, so much so I would need to roll down my window and hang the radio outside the truck to receive any kind of a signal. This would only help to a small degree. Think I will need to install an outside antenna to obtain the results I wanted, however my company does not allow anything added to my vehicle. Would not recommend this radio to anyone using it in the same application.
I dislike about the radio is when you have the radio on ch.17 you can hear people talking but if you key up and try and chat with someone on the cb radio it dont work.
I am operating HAM Radio 28MHz AM. But Japan not sell 28MHz AM low cost Handy. I am mod this TRX. Pll IC remove add xtal osc 28.305 and 39.005 It's good!
Radio does not work properly. Took it to a local repairman who said it was only putting out 2 watts instead of 4 - therefore no one can hear my husband when he talks on it. He can hear them very well. He is a hunter and this radio doesn't work. Have not heard back from the seller yet.
The radio works well. I use it on my motorcycle. I have FRS radios which are more compact, use fewer batteries and have better range with far more channels. If you are with friends deciding on a communication system FRS-GMRS is the best way to go. I ride occasionally with some old Harley guys that are still in the 8 track age. This unit allows me to stay in the CB loop on rides without spending big $$. Range is limited as is true for all handheld CB units. The ability to charge batteries in the unit is a good feature. It does require 9 AA batteries so rechargeables are a must. The 12v car adapter is good. There is no AC charger with the radio. The features are simple. When the squelch is active the channel display goes blank. This conserves batteries but the radio can appear to be off when it is really on. It has a compact feel compared to older CB models. It is good for what it is. Great value for the money.
internal battery charger doesn't seem to work very well. I had to charge batteries with an external charger to get it to work. It also seems to "eat" batteries, because a fully-charged set of Ni-MH batteries discharged in less then an hour, but unit works great up to that point or when connected to a 12-volt power supply. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality, appearance and performance of the unit. Midland is a trusted name in the radio/electronics field, and I would certainly buy their products again with confidence.
I use it in the Grain Trucks and it comes in very handy. I can switch it between the trucks with ease. It is very easy to use and is small and easy to carry around from one vehicle to another. The sound is very clear and if I ever need another CB I would order another just like it.
We used a couple for Hunting I love them I just own to many In cars we transmitted and received 2 to 3 miles with no problem. I dont know exact range however im sure at least 5 to 10 miles under the right conditions. Its without question better than FRS radios talking inside cars.
LIKE THE SIZE AND IMPRESSED ON IT'S SIMPLE OPERATION,RECIEVES AND TRANSMITS BETTER THAN ANTICIPATED,I THINKS IT OPERATES BETTER THAN IT'S LARGER UNITS BY MIDLAND.I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RADIO FOR SPORTING EVENTS,CAMPING,AND PUT IN YOUR GLOVE BOX FOR EMERGENCY USE!
I got screwed out of my money and never got my radio thank you ebay what do you want me to say about the radio when i never got it. It was going to cost me $25 to maybe?? get my $25 back??? Go figure!
I'm very satisfied with this handheld CB. It's handy for my needs, a convenient size, and has modest range. It does use up the(9)batteries fairly quickly, may be good investment to use rechargable AA batteries if intend to use it a lot.
THis is a great Cb radio! Ive had three Midland Cb's and i wouldnt go with any other brand! This Midland 75-785 would have to be my favorite with its light weight and its 40 sharp channels!
