Midland 1001Z 40-Channels Base CB Radio

dont buy it on ebay unless its under 28 bucks
check amazon for it because its real cheap.
also, it has an RF gain which is not advertised on any site about this radio. Great starter radio and it is so small it fits practically anywhere. I think the size is wrong on most sites.

While the Midland 1001Z is a great little CB, which I thought I was buying, I got hooked! What I got was a 23 channel Midland 13-882B which appearantly had not been used in about 20 years. The control knobs were seized with rust, totally inoperable! Despite my efforts this issue is still unresolved, I filed complaints with eBay and Paypal with no result. The item sold for $3.00, but with $17.00 shipping charge. The Seller says if I ship it back (another $17.00) she will refund the purchase price ($3.00).

Now I am not a mathmetician, but somehow paying $ 34.00 to collect a $3.00 refund just does not seem appropriate. My position is that it was false, misleading and deceptive posting that lead to the transaction. It is my position that a refund of the purchase price *AND* the $ 34.00 in shipping costs should be paid by this fraudulent Seller.

This issue has gone on for over a month now, and both eBay and PayPal aooear to be doing absolutely nothing to rectify the situation.

To make matters worse: the Seller has posted negative feedback stating she offered a refund, but only if I ship the item back to her.

Remember, no matter how good the feedback of a Seller is you can still get burned!!!

Purchased this radio through Amazon dealer for $31, which included shipping. Channel selector knob slipped; mic had a short and squealed when trying to transmit; very poor reception. I returned it to the Midland Company and they replaced the radio with no hassle. In fact they were very easy to deal with. The replacement radio works fine.

It receives a signal and makes a great PA loud speaker! But it is a cheap radio and does a cheap job

I bought the midland 1001Z for my kawasaki mule,it's a must to stay in contact with our fellow riders, as we ride the mountains and pretty steep slopes.
I picked the midland because of my past experiance with small radios, it's very crear as my friends tell me and because of it's size you can mount it almost anywhere, this is my second 1001Z, the first one i got wet washing the mule, "forgot about the radio" so now i use a plastic bag when raining or washing. thay are very tough for this kind of use,and good features such as external speaker jack and pa. for the money you can't beat it.

The unit is small, compact, feature rich, and easy to install. Otherwise the quality leaves a bit to be desired. The mic feels good in your hand, not a small cheapy one. The knobs are VERY sensitive. Overall, if you are looking for an economical option to talk to your buddies while in road trips or camping this is the way to go. If you are seriously going to use a CB, then this is not for you!

I bought this item so my wife and I could communicate during a cross-country trip. The radio arrived as described. However, this is a low level radio with no bells or whistles. The price of this item (around $40.00) was the primary reason that I bought it. Since I was only going to use it occasionally, I didn't want to drop big bucks. If you are a serious CB'er you should look for a more high end model. If you will only use the radio once in awhile, then this is the radio for you.

The radio for the money is a good deal. I wish it had a scan feature, but other than that it has worked very well and performed as expected. It is just about the right size for my small SUV, and that is great, one I had prior was a monster and took up a lot of room. This one has the same features and takes up half the space.

If you need a radio that excels in the basics this will do!

For a person who dosn't want or need a complex unit but wants to talk and be heard when he / she wants to be heard. This radio is not a cheap toy but is an inexpensive radio for those who need space saving, working, functionality !!!

i like the compact style with a huge punch of power,sleek design, i although dislike the placement of the mic plug, which pertrudes forward, it would be nice if implementation of the plug is bent to the side to reduce the pertrusion, which gets in the way. Otherwise im very content with the product

what i like abt it is that its a cb what i dont like is that it a low grade cb with problems with the range

This is a very simple minded radio. Installation is straight forward, the mounting bracket allows it to sling under the dash. The downward firing speaker is perfect for underdash or overhead installs. I just set mine vertical between seats in the console. It comes with plus and minus wire so it is not necessary to ground the unit. mine was used, so i clip the wires right before the fuse and ran to a cigar type plug that i got at Walmart which has the fuse built-in and the 2 wires for easy pigtail connection.

Operation is simple too. The squelch control worked to keep noise down, much better than i expected. There is a LED to indicate when you are speaking loud enough for modulation. Channel is selected by a twist knob. This is really a retro 1970's rig but that is exactly what i wanted.

Small, Compact and works well. I bought it for a Jeep I recently purchased and as we all know cell phones don't work everywhere especially off the beaten track. This cb will come in handy !

Made multiple purchases of this item from a very good dealer. Bought one for each of the truck/drivers in my fleet. Am considering geting another one for my car. We work a rural area that cell phone don't always cover.

I'm a storm chaser in Kansas so we rely heavily on being able to communicate between vehicles. My Jeep Cherokee has limited space for gear and this Midland CB takes up very little room keeping my job easier in the driver seat. Not only can I count on the Midland CB to keep us in touch during hairy situations, I know it will more than surpass it's value sometime down the road in an emergency situation.

cheap and cheerfull thanks a mill .I was looking for a good 40 ch cb and came across a new midland cb .its an easy one to work.it has big no,s on the front. and it has big knobs for tuning .it comes with a mike an power lead . it also comes with a fused connector.it comes in a lovely box and it is well packaged. things i also noted was the instructions on how to install it as fitting is explaned very well and you have to follow very carefully as you could blow the set by not connecting the areil to the back.

I bought this radio at a fraction of the price that i would have spent in a retail store. The product was exactly as described and the seller was fantastic. There are some excellent sellers on ebay, and i try to utilize ebay in every way possible to improve my life and business.

Channel knob is super sensitive, that's my only gripe and it's minor at that. The RF gain control is nice. The channel and signal displays are great in low light areas. A simple a solid radio.

My husband is in a hunting club and they talk to each other in the woods is the reason I purchased this item. I like the Midland products and the small size is great. I am impressed just how fast it arrived. Thank you so much.
