Great Book, Understandable & Thorough

I had to buy it for a required college class, but it's very good. (Most universiies these days require students to show proficiency in these 4 programs, no matter what their major is.)
This would be good as an office or home reference book, too. Very up to date. Sensible, easy to understand explanations and relevant hands-on exercises for the 4 most popular and powerful office software programs in use today.
There are several chapters on each program that clearly explain beginning and intermediate principles, techniques and strategies for Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. As you proceed through the chapters, important commands are highligted. This book has a very helpful index in the back, with a summary of the most common commands for each program. Saved me huge amounts of flipping through the book to find the right starting point and sequence for a particular command.
Whether you are a student, an office manager or a job-seeker looking to upgrade your desirability in today's job market, this is the book for you.
The only flaws I saw were not so bad: It's really heavy, my version is paperback with a rather flimsy cover that is easy to tear. Handle it carefully. I was unused to the weight and it slipped out of my hands and I ripped the cover. I have seen some versions of this book with a spiral binding. Wish I had one.... If you pay full retail for it, it is (in my cheapskate opinion) heinously expensive. I bought it online and saved about 75% over the cost of buying it in my college bookstore. This book is good enough that a person could actually teach themselves Office 2007, even without an instructor. I intend to keep my copy as a reference book and not sell it back to the bookstore at the end of the term.
