This is a first rate flight simulator which has something for everyone. The avilable detail is amazing, and ads to the whole flight experience. I have rated this version of MS Flight Sim -- Good --. I would have rated it as excellent except for the fact that it so demanding of your hardware. I just built a computer which I designed to run Crysis. It runs Crysis with everything set on "High" detail and runs fast and smooth. MS Flight Simulator X runs OK with weather and traffic set to LO, and most everything else set to Medium. If I set anything higher the frame rate gets jerky. My system specs are: Intel i7 Quad CPU, TWO BFG GeForce GTX280 Video cards in tandum SLI configuration, 1.5 TeraByte SATA hard drive with a 300 MB per second transfer rate, 6 GB of DDR3 RAM, and Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS. Bottom line is this: Unless you have your own CRAY super computer you will not be able to make use of all the high detail features in MSFS X unless you don't mind watching the world go by at about 8 frames per second. They don't mention this fact in the Microsoft advertising Flight Simulator X. I will say though, that at the Lo and Medium settings I am using, to get a comfortable frame rate, the Sim is very usable.

Although I bought this to use on an AMD 64 X2 processor system with an Nvidia 9500GT graphics and Windows Vista, I found that it runs very well on an older Pentium 4, XP Pro system with a Radeon X850 graphics card.
I'm not into games much and this is the first decent Simulator program that I've had. I have to say that I'm quite pleased with it, in particular the step by step Tutorial Missions which teach you how to fly. I have some flying experience with RC planes and helicopters to relate this program to and as such can say that the realism of this Sim is quite good.
I would recommend using a better than basic joystick such as the Saitek AV8R. You can get by with a basic stick initially but you will definitely end up wanting a better one.

Let's get one thing out of the way: Flying is expensive. You can spend hundreds of dollars an hour to get your pilot licence. MS Flight Simulator X lets you get the most out of that time by preparing you for nearly real world conditions in everything from run-up, checklists, glass cockpits, ATC, and traffic patterns. Add in the ability to have two players in the same airplane through multiplayer, and you can train with an instructor even on days of prohibitive winds. The only fault I can find is that the Garmin GPS models included do not have complete functionality, such as not showing wind speed, and a few buttons that are only for decoration. That you'll need a decent computer to run this is a given, but like I said, flying is expensive!

This type product is what makes Ebay so successful. Couldn't buy this item locally for such a good price. However, since the item was used rather than new there was only one install left on the disc. When I encountered computer problems (not related to this product) I had to re-install simulator but the disc would not allow me to simply install it. I had to contact Microsoft Support to obtain a new code to complete the install. Further, I was advised by Microsoft that if any future installations of this product should occur I will have to contact Microsoft Support each time. This of course is related to the new security feature implemented on their software.
Overall I must say it is still worth it. Even for the extra effort required the price and service make it all worth while!

I had Flight simulator before but wanted to upgrade. I like the details that are true to life. It works best with a yoke and rudder pedals but can be used with simply a mouse or even just the keyboard.

I always liked the Flight Sim series from microsoft and if you've been waiting to buy the latest release, Flight Simulator X now is the time. The gold pack comes with both Flight Simulator X: Deluxe Edition and the Acceleration expansion pack for a pretty good deal. Just a word of advise, the game is MUCH MUCH more enjoyable with a flight sim yoke or joystick. The keyboard controls make things incredibly difficult.

This is the most up to date flight simulator on the market. I would suggest a 2GB processor and a good portion of memory for this game. If you were scrambling to fill your scenery library while using FS 2000, 98 or 95 - don't worry with X. There is detailed scenery of most major cities. Don't expect satellite imagery on the ground. There are 'Faux' neighborhoods that simulate what they would look like from far above. Overall this is a great product!

Great SimulatorIf you're familiar with flight sim, then you'll love this. Many more aircrafts. Smooth game play. Especially with the flight yoke, foot pedals and multi-engine throttle, makes the experience very nice.

Flight Sim X w/ AcceleratorSo far I think the lesson section of the program could use some work it is a little too fussy. Though the Sim seems rather good. /flying the big birds is also a challenge as you cannot get complacent or they will fall out of the sky.

Microsoft flight simulator gold editionThis product is a part of my flight training. I will use this and my real world training book to familiarize myself with the flight controls of a real plane and to practice flying. I love the selection of planes available to you and the fact that you can go anywhere in the world to fly. I'm loving it, right now, and feel sure it will remain one of my favorites for quite a while. It takes a lot of space in your computer but, it's worth it, if you have the room.

Very RealisticThis game is a trip. I was able to take-off from a local airport in a helicopter and land on my own building...in the game! haha!
