Of Mice and Men (DVD, 1998)

A dramatic masterpiece!! Easily one of the best films ever produced. An excellent example showing that the Hal Roach Studios were capable of producing more than comedy films. This is a film that you can watch over and over and never tire of. Burgess Meredith gives a star performance as George Milton. And the film is completely stolen by Lon Chaney Jr. as Lenny Small, a role that gave him his first chance to show the depth and range that his acting ability was capable of. A stellar performance and one that has been copied by many others!!! Buy this film-you won't regret it!

It's a shame that this movie had to compete for the Oscars best picture with all those other great movies in 1939. In most other years it would have won hands down. Chaneys portrayl of Lenny was spectacular.I highly reccomend this film.

I have enjoyed this movie since it was first issued in 1939. Burgess Meridith and Lon Chaney are excellent. I would never see any re-issues of this film as it cannot be duplicated. Original is the best.
