I bought Mig alley for pc a few months ago. I installed it on a system running Windows XP pro, and had no installation errors or problems.
After intallation completed, I rebooted the system and ran the game. I then customised the graphics and joystick settings remember to save and exit game, incase of system crash. The graphics is good taking into account when the game was first released. The manual is on cd not very well written but covers all the info needed, take time to peruse the manual especiallly on how the campaigne works etc.
The game runs smooth and is fairly easy to play the aircraft are modelled well and the wing men AI is extremely good, maybe a bit too good. The enemy AI is good I think about the best I have come across in flight simms. The Game has a historical order it follows of the Korean conflict and one is taken through the conflict piloting different aircraft each with its own characteristics and strengths and weaknesses.
Bombing and strafing with rockets takes some getting used to as there are no computer aided cues, I find a 45 degree enty is ok but keep watch of airspeed and pull up gentle as you can overstress the plane coming out of the dive.
When in game you can "plan" the mission tasking different aircraft for say flak supression etc, which can help to achieve your goal.
The damage from flak and or aircraft is also modelled well, the hit sounds are bit weak as it sounds like braking glass.
If you eject too low you dont always survive, be carefull.
What is nice of this game is there are no missles, all still relies on dogfighting and getting close enough for gun shots that makes it more exciting and will get me going back for more. It is easy enough to just hop in and dogfight some Migs or if you want you can do the whole historical campaigne which takes a bit of thinking as you fly about 4 sorties a day. There is soom function if you don't want to pilot the whole 200 miles to "Mig Alley" or you bombing target.
Overall Good to Average and it is difficult to compare to other combat flight simms as there are few written for that era of conflict. But if you want to brak away from missles etc, it is actually enjoyable.
