Metroid II: Return of Samus (Game Boy)

After getting Metroid II, I immediately played it and at first was greatly disappointed, for I thought that it would be even better (graphics wise) than the two previous GBA games: Fusion and Zero Mission. After about a week of ignoring it, bummed out, I decided to try it again. I LOVED IT!! The game play is awesome! I took with me to a summer trip to Pismo and was up in the hotel room all night playing it! Metroid II is an awesome sequel to an original 8-bit game.

Awesome game, and a bit of a rant

This game is brilliant. I played it way back in 1991 as a child and it was my favorite GameBoy game until I played Link's Awakening. It's rather difficult for really young children but I was around 5-6 when I played it and beat it. Children born around 2000 will probably be bored with it since it's graphics are extremely limited. (It's on a 2 Megabit cartridge) but keep it, because when they get older, and if they play other Metroid titles, they will probably want to return to the series beginnings, since it's an awesome game. It also shows the Metroid's evolutionary stages on the planet SR-388 without the presence of Phazon, which hasn't been shown in later titles. I want to buy another copy since my dog ate my old one and replay it. ^_^

To those who don't research and complain about the seller, it specifically says don't complain about the seller. (It also says avoid off topic remarks, but I just have to do this, since you complained about your seller) You should have done more research. GameBoy Advance games are half the size of regular GameBoy/GameBoy color games, if he has one you should have known this. Also, if the seller listed the picture of the box, on the side it says GAMEBOY, not "Only for" GameBoy Advance. AND if you had searched Metroid II on the internet at all, it would have told you it was for the original GameBoy. With tons of Metroid titles out now, did it ever occur to you that Metroid II might be from a long time ago? You didn't do enough research, it's not your sellers fault. You probably also spent under $10 for the whole transaction so get over it.

I also realize that you will probably never read this. But for others like you, RESEARCH YOUR PRODUCT.

Metroid II/2: Return of Samus Gameboy/Color/Advance/GBA

I was under the impression, from the title of the auction, that this game was for Game Boy Advanced. My nephew, the person it was bought for, was very disappointed and played it once and not since. This child has played all of the Metroid Games and loves them. The game was made for the first Game Boy, although it works with GBA, the colors and graphics are poor. I feel I was misled. I did not realize it was not made for GBA and from the title and description we could not tell. I feel the seller misrepresented what it was.

This game has a very intense field to it making it hard and freelance roaming. The game is difficult if you don't know were to look for upgrads for samus aran she is looking for saving the planet form space pirates tring to experiment on metroids. Though it is difficult it is fun.

  Awesome Title

I'm a big nintendo fan...in particular zelda and metroid. I've made it my business to have every game in both series, and I have to say Metroid II: return of Samus is an amazing game. It's difficult enough that you can't finish in one sitting, but not difficult enough that you'd need a gameshark or cheat guide. And although it came out when the Super Gameboy did, believe it or not, it has some color features on the Gameboy Color. I'd definitely invest in a map of metroid II though. Easy to get lost. I'm sure someone on the web has it, because I found one.

The only complaint I have is that Nintendo never re-released this game. I mean, come on, if you follow the storeyline, it takes place AFTER the Metroid Prime series. I mean, come on. Metroid Prime has a re-release of the Original Metroid, not to mention the Classic NES Series...Aside from that, I only have three words left: Get This Game.

  My favorite Metroid game.

My first visit to planet SR388 was a unforgettable one. The whole story focused fully on the Metroid Species and introduced a huge cast of enemy and surprisingly good graphics for a handheld in 1991. The Spider Ball of Metroid Prime fame was originally introduced in this game and also made the concept of enemies dropping items. Though a map would help immensely the game is fun to play especially towards the end when Zetas and Omegas are the Metroids you need to beat. Also the ending says that there will be a sequel and drags you into it. Once again the control scheme is simple and easy to learn but the game is not for the impatient and is hard to navigate and health is hard to acquire often ending in death and needing to start from the last save point which are pretty scarce themselves. If you really like Metroid you'll really like this game. Newcomers should start with Super Metroid or Metroid Prime as a test run first.

I never got to play the game when I was yonger. The game it's self is still very fun. If you have a Game Boy Advanced I would recommened buying the game. The game takes place between Metroid (Zero Mission) and Prime so it is perfect with any Metroid collector out there.

  Metroid II: Return of Samus

This game was purchased for my son and he beat it already. What he liked about it was he got the Cyborg ending. The features he likes about the game were such things as Omega Metroid and other characters in the game. The game was a lot of fun for him to play and he collects Metroid games and is always online looking for Metroid maps. There's more characters that arrive in Metroid 2 and Metroid Fusion.

I cant beleive that i bought this peace of Crap./
Review created: 07/18/09
by:

I bought this item because i was willing to add this game to my collection.
On the Description title. it was stated at in Very-Good Condition.

Now, when i had received this item,( METROID II: RETURN OF SAMUS GAME BOY COLOR ADVANCE SP ) i was extremely angry, because the game was in the worst possible shape i have ever seen this game or game alike in.

Now that i cannot seem to contact this seller because of a page not loading correctly. i must choose to send a message to him using this method./

i am still awaiting a replacement for this item as that am still furiously mad at the fact that he still is selling this game at the same title of condition to other peoples. and i am still stuck with a peace of crap junk condition game that I COULD HAVE SAVED THAT 15$ FOR SOMETHING ELS.

The URL is here take a look for yourslef. ( http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=290321216409 )

if you want Proof i will be gladly to send you a picture of the crap that came to me in the mail.

  Renewed memories
Review created: 07/16/09

Before i bought this game on ebay, i was 6 years old the first time i played it. I instantly fell in love with it. It belonged to my cousin, and i remember asking him if i could have it while he was half sleep. I almost got away with it until my mom seen me with it and made me give it back. Good times. I'm glad i have the chance to relive the great memories i had so long ago.

  Metroid 1 Portable
Review created: 12/16/08

I like the game for the fact that I now own every Metroid game in one way or another. You can look at many aspects of this game and say that it is horrible, but then again, when compared to Metroid 1 for NES, there are many similarities. No map, no sense of direction, no given storyline. If you dont know where youre going, youre going to get lost and randomly run into powerups and Metroids until you eventually get them all.

I know the storyline from playing the rest of the games, and it takes place on SR388, the Metroid homeworld, where Samus is on another lone mission to exterminate the last Metroid. You start the game with morphball and 10 missles, as well as a Metroid counter set to 39. At the end, the last baby Metroid hatches in front of you, except sees Samus as its mother. She collects it, and the story leads into Super Metroid on SNES ("The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace...") when she returns to SR388. For more on the Metroid storyline, wikipedia/google it(Metroid Database is awesome too), but I will list the chonological order of games.

Metroid
Metroid Zero Mission
Metroid Prime series
Metroid 2
Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion

So if you liked the old Metroid on NES, this will be an awesome addition to your collection, though the first one is still better. However, if you dont want to consult a guide for a map to beat it (like I am) or wander aimlessly, you should pick up Zero Mission or Fusion that have maps and clearly defined objectives.

Metroid II: the return of Samus
Review created: 12/04/08

This is one of the most dificult metroid titles not only because of the platform that it was intended for (the massive original gameboy) but because of the scope and vastness of the game. The enemy dificulty is a challange still even in comparison to modern incarnations of the game and truth be told is much more harder and more fufilling of a game than Metroid Fusion. A must buy for any die hard metroid fan.
