I recieved this audiobook as a gift from my husband. I have listened to it several times. My eleven year old son has listened to selected parts with me. My husband thought I was so goofy to listen to it more than once that he borrowed and agreed that it was very funny and very well written. C.J. Critt is the narrator/reader and does a fantastic job of bringing these character to life. The accents are well defined and the scenes play out well on audio.
Janet Evanovich is brilliant author. Her work is funny, likeable and intelligent. It is also just a little risque' in a way most of us just wish we could be.
In this book Janet Evanovich has stepped away from Stephanie Plum to a new character Barney. Barney flies to Miami to help her philandering brother Bill whose last phone call to her was stopped short just before she heard a scream and maybe a gunshot. Barney who is pretending to be an insurance agent in her real life is actually a mechanical engineer. She meets us with "Nascar Guy" and an old friend named Judy in her search for her brother Bill. She manages to skillfully and hilariously outwit Miami gangsters, crooked Cuban Politicians, crooked FBI, the Miam Police, and many others.
There is a scene in a mangrove jungle on an island of the coast of Cuba with a spider and leaches that will make you laugh so hard you will either have to explain to everyone around you what is so funny or read it alone. I laughed so hard I cried.
In the end it all comes together and make you wish for more! I can't wait to read the sequel, Motor Mouth.
