Meteos (Nintendo DS, 2005)

This is one of the best DS games I have ever played on the DS! Anyone with a DS should definitely buy this one first, like me.

It has lots of games that are very fun and amusing. All the colors and shapes and designs, just make it even better.
The idea of having different planets and destoying them for points. After accumulating more points, you can get better planets.
You will be happy when you get this game.
It's definitly worth more than 20 dollars.

As far as puzzle games go Meteos is great. It's a relaxing game on the easy levels and frustratingly difficult on harder settings. One of the nice things about it is that there are TONS of unlockable items/planets/music/etc that expand the gameplay.
I've only borrowed it for a few days and am already looking to get my own copy.

This is by far my #1 DS game. My brother and I can't go for a day without playing it at least once. I got this game because of Lumines was a game I liked a whole bunch and I wanted to see what other things the creators could do for a puzzle game. The action is fast and addicting, and when you play it you can see yourself getting faster and better at it as time goes by.
Right now my brother and I are vying for the top of the 2-minute time attack leader board. We used to think 40,000 points was incredible just a short months ago, but now we're setting records in the 70,000s.
If you like puzzle games like Lumines or enjoy quick acting games like Guitar Hero, get this, you won't be disappointed.

This game drops bombs....actually it drops different shapes that you switch up and down only to match three. This launches all overhead shapes with the three, and get this, you can shoot up shapes under the launching platform to bounce it off the screen. The music is intense, the graphics are very well animated, with explosions and rockets, so it makes the game feel more like an action game! Must buy for any DS owner.

This game is great. I recently purchased a ds system and this game came highly recommended to me by several people. Glad I got it. If you like puzzle game you'll love it!

I'd heard good things about this game a few years ago when the DS was relatively new. So when I saw it going for cheap, I thought I'd pick it up.

The game is kind of hard to understand initially. There's not much of a story mode or anything like that. If you don't read the manual, you have no idea what's going on, and you keep trying to get things to move horizontally.

A FANTASTIC way to burn time. It's as though tetris and bejeweled had some sort of monstrous offspring. I'm hooked on all the different "planets" (players) that you can pick, and all the various items and characters that are unlockable.

This is a great game. There is alot of content and it is all fun. The multiplayer is intense but, unfortunatly, there isn't wifi. It was in perfect condition when I got it. This is what I give the game in different categories.
Graphics-8.5 simple but not displeasing to the eye
Gameplay-9.2 Very good puzzle gameplay along with good controls.
Lasting Value-8.5 Many different modes but no wifi.
Sound-9.0 Good sound effects along with fitting music.
Overall-8.8/10

I'm a huge puzzle game fan and while my all-time favorite is Luminesce, which isn't available for the DS, I'm incredibly happy with Meteos. Meteos is similar to other puzzle games, but it's unique in it's own way. You can only create combos by dragging tiles vertically, which is a bit different.

The only downside to Meteos I can see is that, even after playing a good deal of this game, I still don't completely understand it. I still have fun playing it, but I get the hint that I should have paid better attention to the tutorials.

Meteos has a way of combining a puzzle game with a story adventure, and it's really addictive. Like I'm sure many people who have played it would, I'd recommend this to anyone with a DS.

Meteos is a great all around puzzle game. It is a bit of a twist on the typical tetris-style games. The game is fairly easy to pick up and very addictive once you get the hang of it. Basically, blocks fall from the top of the screen, you match colors, line the blocks up and then launch them upwards in order to clear the screen.
Likes: Fast paced and entertaining. Good for a quick game or a more lengthy "star trip". Nice graphics and presentation. Intuitive use of the stylus.
Dislikes: The game doesn't seem to save personal scores by name, rather you just see a generic "high score" in different levels. Unlike Tetris-DS, the game doesn't offer many variations on the basic game, rather just different missions with the same gameplay.

The premise of the game is quite simple; just another falling block elimination game. When things start to ramp up in the game, however, is when it really starts to differentiate from Tetris.

It becomes a real test of grace under pressure to keep from invoking the "scribble cheat", which only provides temporary respite. This game does require good concentration and field awareness. The music and graphics are top-notch.

I've been a puzzle gamer for a while now, years really, and love games like Tetris Attack (now known as Planet Puzzle League) the original Tetris, Jewel Quest, Kirby's Avalanche, the best of the best. As for Meteos I can truly say I enjoy this game, but it seems as if Intelligent Systems went a bit overboard. Unlockable and collection systems rivaling that of Super Smash Brothers, plenty of game modes, complete difficulty options... While the game plays smoothly and IS addicting, I personally just wanted to get to the action, thus feel like all these other features are wasted. Even the differences between character selection (yes, you can choose your player type) and choice of paths to Meteo feel rather useless.

Don't get me wrong, Meteos is a very fun game, it definitely deserves at least four stars and a demo by all the puzzle/casual gamers out there, but the number of features plastered over the core game play feel wasted.

this game was tapped from the vein of Tetris Attack/Puzzle League. your task is save differerent planets by lining up 3 or more pieces of deadly space garbage of the same color/shape and blast them off into space.
the game is very fast paced and fun. and the various planets that you can play on make some differences in gameplay and difficulty, providing lots of replay value.

Versus mode is very competitive and a memorable gaming experience.

anyone with a DS should certainly add this game to the top of their collection.

If you are into falling block games, this is a good one to try. Very fast paced and addictive. The multiplayer is where this game truly shines as download play is solid and cartridge to cartridge is even more fun.

Ok first off a person just picking up this game might be like "Y does everyone love this game?" i was and to be honest u have to give it a chance, u have to let it beat the hell out of u to really enjoy this game. unlike most match 3 colors game meteos can only be moved up and down not side to side. this at first gets a little getting used to but after about 10 min u will get the hang of it and be launching 10 to 30 meteos at a time. all in all this is a must have for any ds owner puzzle fan or not
