Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

I am a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid saga. The newest entry in series is by far the best of them which is saying a lot considering the last two. The game takes place in the jungles of the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War almost 40 years before the first Metal Gear for the NES. The game revolves around a CIA operative named Jack, codenamed Naked Snake during the missions, who must go into the Soviet Union and rescue a scientist who is trying to defect. This entry in the series marks the first one that isn't all about sneaking around corridors. Since the whole game takes place in the jungle, survival is a large portion of the game play and a new healing system was implemented just because of that. You now have to bandage, suture, and splint all of your own wounds in the game as well as eat to survive. It also incorporates a new stealth system: camouflage. Based on what is around you in the environment you have to wear the proper clothing and face paint to keep yourself well hidden. A new combat system was introduced as well. A close quarters combat system which in the game is fittingly called CQC finally makes hand-to-hand combat a viable option in a Metal Gear Solid game. Consisting of throws, throat-slitting, and using people as human shields, CQC includes some of the most gratifying things you can do to an enemy in a game. This is an overall amazing game from the story to the action to the graphics; there are almost no parts of this game that are not perfect.
