Mercenaries (PlayStation 2, 2005)

Has some of the best graphics for FPS on PS2 I've ever seen. If you've played Star Wars Battlefront 2, then you will already know the controls for this game. They are almost exactly alike. The contracts are fun and challenging, but not too hard...and theres always supplies/vehicles an airdrop away :) I would definitely recommend this game!

I have mixed feelings on this game as it allures to non-stop carnage and destruction. In reality this is more of a military "Grand Theft Auto" than say "Call of Duty" shooter. As one of three possible mercenaries you have to perform missions with the various North Korean factions to earn money to buy more weaponary and advance to capture/kill the bad guys. Did I mention you have to pay for your own air-support?? So while all the structures can be demolished, you have to pay for the stuff out of your back pocket.
There are "mini game" missions as well to earn money like racing a jeep through checkpoint in a certain amount of time.
So overall it's not a bad game, just not what I was expecting. It's a slightly older game so the graphics are not to today's standards. Nevertheless, if you could find a budget version of this ($10-15.00) it's probably worth a peek.

I love this game, very fun, the animations are exelent. i'd definitely recommend it. you will have alot of fun and you wont loose your money.

bought it because my son in law wanted it for christmas. He watched it at our house and just had to have it.

I originally bought Mercenaries 2 on a whim and loved it!! So.. when I saw the first one being auctioned on Ebay.. I bid on it ad lost! :( So..I was determined to buy one and actually won the next one that I'd bidded on! I am glad I followed through because the game was RIGHT ON! As good as I thought it would be!

A first shooter game with the ability to work with different factions for different abilities, such as calling in strikes or artillery back-up. With the use of a 52 card deck to identify targets, you will find yourself thinking of creative new ways to capture targets as there is no structured storyline. A good game with a revamped physics engine, bodies fly realistically and so do helicopters, as you are able to hijack anything in sight. If you can see it, you can steal it, definitely a plus. This game is definitely worth checking out, if not buying.

I like games that will have you playing for days, this is one of those games. There is many things you can do so if you get bored with one mission you can do something else. The story feels very real and the action is great. The AI of the game is very good. The graphics may not be the best, but if you are like me you won't mind that.

This is the best Playstation 2 game I have ever played, And the rest of my family agrees! This is a perfect free roam game where you can go anywhere and there are barely any boundries. I have already suggested this to many people and I will keep doing it! I can't wait to buy the second one! A Playstation 2 game can't get any better than this! The Grand Theft Auto games were way to inappropriate yet Mercenaries give the perfect blend between action, adventure, and just plain fun! Great job!!!

This game is exciting and fun to play. Good graphics and unencumbered game play. Air strikes are really amazing.

Great playing game very happy:)I have no problems with the game or game play. It was a birthday present for myself and I got it just in time like 2-3 days before.

Who knew it could be so fun to destroy building, vehicles and just about anything and get paid for it!? Mercenaries is definitely a game of it's own lending from Grand Theft Auto titles and throwing in it's own mix of missions with different political groups. There is a vast selection of guns, vehicles and special artillery drops to keep anyone amused for hours on end. Worth the purchase!

I bid on this game, cause I had a version of it for Xbox, and I wanted to see if there were any major diffrences between the two systems. For the most part, they are the same, though on the Xbox the loading is so much faster. This game is great, because there is not set plot per say. It just you in an open go anywhere enviorment and you can basicly do whatever it is you want. You can do the missions, to get info on where the cards are, but if you want the challenge, you can just go "hunting" for them without any clue of where they could be. After playing it once all the way thru, the second time around that is how I did it. Its actually kinda funner like that. All in all, the graphics on the PS2 are good. Not great but good. I have also noticed that when you go into the PDA and exit out, there is atleast a five second delay before the game resumes. That can get kinda annoying. All in all, its one of those games, that you will just not get bored of playing in an hour or so. It keeps you on edge, and when the bullets start flying, you best be ready to roll. Worth a shot if you like RPG's, without the normal confined areas.

Why i love this game,every thing goes BOOM.I can destroy anything i want and that is very very fun.I decided to buy this because it looked very interesting and fun.the only thing I dont like is the sound fx for the weapons and voices,otherwise its a great game.buy it if you love explosions.

This game is ok. Open and free world--like GTA game. PS2 like graphics. It makes me want to get get a next-gen console.

Mercenaries is an excellent game for PS2. It's a very unique game in that you are an unbiased mercenary trying to keep the factions happy enough to give you missions. The game features a huge map, a large stockpile of massive weapons, and very entertaining commentary on the part of the mercenaries and faction leaders.

It was a great deal! I loved the speedy delivery and that my kids loved the game. It works without any problems.

I've only played it for about 5 hours so I don't know if it's too short or not yet but it does rock out. Hit this game hard and fast and don't spare any expense. Peace out gamers and God bless.
