Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus by John Gray (1992)

This book changed my life and helped my marriage tremendously. John Gray did an excellent job of explaining the differences of a man and woman's reference point and how we understand and perceive situations from a different view point. Often we can feel like we are speaking different languages. By coming to a new understanding of how men filter life's information - I was able to communicate with my husband in a new style and was much more effective in letting him know what I needed from him and how I could better help him and meet his needs in our marriage as well.

I bought this book for my mother and she absolutely loved it. I bought it for her because she said that she would love to hear how the author presents this. I am going to read it when she is finished.

I had heard that reading this book would make me a more understanding man because it would let appreciate and accept the differences between Men and Women ... They were right !! I now can adjust my expectations and become a better person by it !! I think this Book should be a required reading book in all High Schools to make us aware of the fact that what attracts us to each other is really the differences in each other , so don't try to change your woman into a man ... and vice versa .....

I thank Dr. John Gray for writing this very informative Book , I wish someone had written it 30 years earlier and I was lucky enough to have found and read it , and that the woman I love read it too !!

P.S. I should mention that I have read other books on improving relationships between men and women but , they all just blame the opposite sex for any problems ... this book gives you a road map to make both sides more appriciative and have a much better understanding by accepting each of us as we are !! Its like the old Carpenters always say ... don't sand the wood against its grain or you just flair up the wood ))

Excellent book, by reading it you'll get insights about your self and your partnert that will serve as tools to a more complete relationship.

This book is great even if you are single. It helped me understand my self... and I thought I knew everything a bout my feelings. I highly recommend this book for couples, to read it together.

This book should be standard usage textbook in school!!!! Teach us all how to get along well with the other guy/gal early in life!!!!

Insane. That anyone would ascribe to these sexist ideas...let alone actually trying to apply them. I've listened to the tapes, read the books, became more incensed as I went along. Yes, there are differences between the sexes, but this guy doesn't come close to getting it right, and if you're a man following his advice, then you can write off having a long-term with an INTELLIGENT woman. This fool creates "escapes" and excuses for sheer bad behaviour of some men, claiming that it's innate to the male gender, and suggests that their women forgive them for it!
Sure, forgive them....but expect men to GROW UP at some point!
I support equal respect for men from women, and vice versa. Gray expects us to believe that a man should be able to look at other females...and suggests that its a woman's DUTY to at least provide manual or oral gratification whenever he needs it. Hey, if I catch you flirting with other women, or DEMANDING carnal favors from me rather than gently soliciting them, and you support your bad behaviour with this garbage book, I'll shove MISTER, (NOT a real Doctor)Gray's book where the sun don't shine.
Mr. Gray is an over-grown child looking for a loophole for his bad manners towards the women he's offended. For those looking for a better appraisal than mine, please google The Rebuttal From Uranus, the critics there really capture the truth. (I think I'll go to my "cave" now. As a woman, I have one too, it's not just for men!) Don't Buy This Book!

Me and my husban read it together and find so much of what it sais in the book make sence.And we get alot of laughs from it too.

It is very interesting. I did find some similar things with my husband and it helps to understand how they think differently.

It shipped fast and it was a good price and the book is timeless, my friend was having serious trouble and kept saying things to me that I thought were insane because I had read the book and been married way longer. I think it is helped somewhat.

I read the book and it really improved my relationship. I wanted a copy to share with my fiance. I found this book a big help with my friends and their relationships and struggles as well. I really like this book.

I needed some help understanding why men seemed so "out there". My experience of trying get him to change and adapt had led me to feel like "maybe it's not him, maybe it's me" thinking. I spoke to some girlfriends and they recommended this book to me. I still don't have a complete understanding of men, and I probably never will. This book is insightful and mind-detangling. I have already finished reading it and loaned it out to my sister. A must read if you have that undying need to understand.

I should have read this book years ago. It would have helped me understand why my wife is such a knucklehead and seems to have no logic or common sense. It would have also helped her to understand me better. We have both greatly inproved our relationship and anyone who has not read this book must do so immediately.

this book is very interesting. it does have some insightful information in it, however, it has been criticized to be sexist. I personally think that some of the information can be very helpful in understanding men in relationships and the way they behave.

The book is for a friend, so I can not review book my self. But I have heard from friends, that book has a great insight on Men's behavior.
