great, but be prepared for what's asked of you...

the original mega man game was hard. there's only one portion of it, the final areas, that pose any serious threat aside from a few simple mistakes that you're bound to make a million of throughout the course of the game. keep in mind of this game: easy is easy, normal is modest, but sometimes frustrating, and hard is enough to put a gamer down for a while. even in normal, wily himself can cause some discomfort with yourself until you (or if you) finally beat him to grand fanfare. the extra characters have a similar bout, but each have their own trouble spots as well. even roll, who has 12 different variations (costumes) can blast through the game in easy, but frankly, even i'm stuck at the robot masters remix. also, there are eight robot masters this time around, time man and oil man have been made for the cast, but thankfully, neither are as fierce a threat as they could have been.
the classic style mode, which is the classic game in a full screen aspect ratio, is an exact stage recreation. it is not, however, a wholly accurate enemy/obstacle recreation as the enemies and traps still follow the 'powered up' rule set. shots do not go through walls, be yhey enemy or your own, and some robots have been made friendlier for the remake, so it feels like an altogether more relaxed mega man game experience. that said, if you've played the NES classic anytime soon, you'll feel a little better as you stroll through this iteration. wily's final stage is still very much a hassle in this mode and there is no 'select glitch', so you're on your own for real.
the biggest draw for this game is the level creator and it is a blast. you have a huge area to work with, dozens of packs of enemies, stage tiles, and gimmicks all around. after you download everything from the online site (only through your PSP in the construction mode), you'll have tons of different stage possibilities (and you can pick up some characters along the way...). it's the biggest draw, especially since you can upload them or download others through the network. and, for those worried about size limitation, you have PLENTY of room to work with and solid blocks cost nothing when you place them.
the whole package is undoubtedly fun, just as long as you can bear with the hard times and take your hits with stride. the editor alone makes the purchase worthwhile and has the potential to drain many an hour of your life just getting that one stage just right. go ahead. have fun. a rare title with lots of options.
