TEACHINGS IN THIS BOOK ARE NOT APPROVED BY ANY TRIBE

Profiting from Native spirituality goes against most tribal beliefs. It is considered religious prostitution. MUCH can NEVER be taught outside the Nations' OWN !
Most information given in books like this is derived from false information & stereotypes. Only a person from a particular culture can truly understand & appreciate their own heritage. Sams is NOT a member of ANY Native Tribe! Call them up for yourselves & ask them! Numbers to all Tribal Offices are easily found on the internet! Sams CLAIMS CHOCTAW & SENECA most often. CALL THEM!
You cannot gather REAL NATIVE knowledge from even 10,000 books and movies, nor by witnessing a few factual ceremonies and rituals. Such misinformation perpetuates myths, stereotypes and romanticized ideals currently associated with Native people. You cannot construct an authentic Native American anything by employing bits and pieces of MIXED ceremonies and traditions, manipulating them into one package and calling it TRADITIONAL. THIS IS WHAT SAMS HAS DONE AGAIN & AGAIN, MIXED THINGS UP & INVENTED NEW "TEACHINGS"! CALL THE TRIBES!
Each ceremony and ritual, and every belief and song hold a specific purpose. You cannot extract certain elements of a ritual or song and use it as your own. Its true meaning is CORRUPTED!
There's a total absence of CITED history in SAMS' work! She doesn't back up ANYTHING about "medicine cards" by referring the readers to a REAL TRIBE! NO INDIANS USED MEDICINE CARDS! Where would they have ordered them from in 1500, 1600, 1800, SEARS & ROEBUCK???
Indigenous people have endured prolonged and cataclysmic acts of genocide , in body & spiritually, against them for over 500 years. Only THEY feel their past & can appreciate the traditions & ceremonies that stem from their survival. You cannot play Indian. Dressing up as a stereotypical Native American & sending smoke signals to the Great Spirit is not what the culture is about. One must LIVE the oppression, the history, & the heritage. These cannot be learned from books or movies.
It's theft to even TRY! It's exploitation. It's the interpretation of a self-proclaimed Native "teacher" who passes the information on to believers who pay to learn from their "wisdom." A non-Native American teaching Native spirituality contributes to the genocide of the Native nations. Their work often enthralls their New Age audience and perpetuates stereotypes & misinformation that PLAGUE the Native community.
Non-Natives trying to teach Native spirituality trivializes the true and accurate beliefs of ALL Native Americans. When ANYONE teaches what is NOT THEIR OWN, it belittles those who follow that belief. It says that anyone can teach or spiritually lead that culture. This presumption is degrading, arrogant, and racist.
IF YOU ARE STUDYING UNDER SUCH A MISCONCEPTION, INSIST THAT THE TEACHER GIVE YOU THE NAME & CONTACTS FOR HIS/HER TRIBE! IF THEY WON'T,YOU ARE BEING HAD!
BEWARE! These so-called "teachers" can KILL you with their "NEW" "knowledge/wisdom"! At the very least, following their "teachings" can be dangerous. If a person conducts a sweat lodge, vision quest, sun dance etc. without the proper education, someone can truly be hurt.
REAL NATIVE TEACHERS NEVER CHARGE FOR THEIR KNOWLEDGE & INSIST ON YEARS OF FACE-TO-FACE ENCOUNTERS!
SAMS, ED McGAA, & SEVERAL OTHERS HELPED FORM & MAINTAIN THE "RAINBOW TRIBE". READ ALL ABOUT IT ON THE WEB!THINK!
