Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (Wii)

Ok, so the Nazis are dumb.... real dumb... “Stormtrooper-on-Endor-getting-beat-up-by-Muppet-Bears” dumb. But who cares? They present a target rich environment... PLUS if you are one of those people who enjoy beating up on the blind elderly, or were a bully during recess in the special ed class, then you will feel like a Man REBORN. But on a serious note, this game does have its fair share of merits.

A big one on the merits section is the excellent control layout and how you interact with the game (which is why most of us bought a Wii to begin with). This has got to be one of the most intuitive control schemes that I have seen in awhile, and it feels a lot like that little game Metroid Prime 3, but with some additions that I think you will enjoy. Like pushing your arms forward to execute a mean rifle butt smash to your hapless German opponents up close, or the way you make a throwing motion to lob a grenade, the way you twist the Wii-mote to zoom in your rifle scope in sniper mode and when you finally get your grimy little hands on the 12 Gauge pump shotgun, you will be pleasantly surprised that you do indeed have to pump it after every shot. These little touches (and many, many more) add to the atmosphere of the game as well as the overall enjoy-ability.

Another big plus is the seamless game play one will find on the EA Nation servers, that is 32 player multi player online seamless gameplay. Now, while there are no vehicles to pilot, there are 32 players out there gunning for you, and some of the arenas are pretty big; so there is a fun challenge to be had long after the single player campaign is long gone. I would go so far as to say that, for right now, this is THE online FPS game for the Wii system.

The graphics find themselves neither boon, nor outright curse. The draw distances are done well and the game experiences little to no slowdown or pop up. It runs along at what seems like a little under 60 FPS. BUUUUT, the could have easily been done on my Xbox, or Gamecube. That does not mean they are “bad” graphics, but developers in the third party have a ways to go to unlock the prowess of our little white box.

I safely give this game a 4.5 out of 5; and if the Wii is your only “Next Gen” game console it is a must for your library. If you want to see what the Wii can do immersion wise in the realm of FPS based games, then I highly recommend it.

The Wii makes this a great game. What it lacks in graphics it makes up for in the interactive aspect. The only downside to the game wold be that there is no multiplayer campaign. But the online play is great too.
