Meat Helicopter [EP] by Meat Helicopter (CD, Jan-1993, Brazen Records)

Meat Helicopter is an obscure yet powerful Massachusetts-based rock band that could easily be classified as "punk rock" on the first listening. The music, however, reveals itself to move beyond that limited genre with repeated listenings. This is a well-crafted, cleanly-produced effort, with strong vocals, imaginative & forceful guitar playing, and solid, propulsive drumming. Definitely to the hard side of the sonic spectrum. The arrangements are succint & the intent of originality is strong. Worth a listen. In my opinion, very good - bordering on excellent. -- Reviewed by John Rielly
