Meade ETX-80AT-TC (270 x 80mm) Telescope

Not for the beginner, difficult to use even with reading the instructions 5 times. I can only find the moon, nothing else.

scope was delivered promptly, but damaged, flip mirror was never glued to the controller, it was an obvious defect which was not caused by shipping. it took aporx. 2 hours to repair on my end... lucky for the vendor i had the necessary tools and ability.... beware

I am just a novice at star gazing, but this telescope made it easy even for me. The automated system helps you quickly find what you’re looking for, which is especially useful when you don't know what you’re looking at in the first place. In addition to the software integrated in the telescope the included discs enable you to find and track your favorite celestial objects while at your home computer. This telescope really helps cut down on wasting time wandering through the cosmos looking for objects to view.

Great product for the beginning astronomer!

the meade etx80 is excellent. not as expensive as the 90 or 105 , but better than the 60 & 70 . a sturdy tripod , easy to set up and use. clarity is excellent also . i love it , light perfect to carry in and out of the house, i don"t have a permanent observatory. like a patio . there are extender focus cables sold ( found out most don"t fit it ) but i don"t see the problem , unless the scope is pointing beyond straight up the focus knob is easy to reach . that is the only bothersome thing to the scope as any meade etx , the focus is so fine it takes a while to focus it , very fine threads ! all in all i would highly recommend it or any meade etx model , whatever your pocket can handle. randall
