Album Notes Includes liner notes by Shelby Meadows Ashford and Carol Cooper. Personnel: Richard Pryor (vocals). Liner Note Author: Carol Cooper. Those who have read Richard Pryor's biography, PRYOR CONVICTIONS: AND OTHER LIFE SENTENCES, and/or seen his movie biopic, JO JO DANCER: YOUR LIFE IS CALLING, will be more than aware that Pryor has led a rather interesting life. Pryor has always used his peculiar upbringing as the backdrop for some of his best known comedic bits, and he does so throughout his 1977 album, WHO ME? I'M NOT HIM. Not nearly as racy as most of his other recordings from the era proved to be (BICENTENNIAL NIGGER, SUPERNIGGER, etc.), Pryor treads on Bill Cosby-esque story telling territory throughout. Standouts include "I'm A Negro," "Hippy Dippys," "Weasel," "Religion," "Passin' Gas," and "Slippin' In Poo Poo." But don't be mistaken, Pryor is as feisty and crafty as ever - as he takes the listener on a wild journey throughout this hilarious stand-up comedy set.
