Synopsis About to be married to a lovely mail-order bride from Boston, Holt McKettrick abruptly calls off the ceremony when he learns that a Texas landowner has framed his friend, Gabe Navarro, for horse-stealing and murder, and is also making a grab for his beloved foster-father's land. Arriving in San Antonio to save both men, Holt immediately encounters Lorelei Fellows in the town square, burning her wedding dress--she's cancelled her own imminent wedding after catching her groom in bed with a housemaid. Kicked out of the house by her father (the judge who convicted Gabe) for refusing to reconcile with her fiancé (Gabe's lawyer), she tries to set up a ranch of her own on the property she inherited from her mother. Lorelei finds her new life more difficult than she expected, making it inevitable that she and Holt will get together to solve their problems--and incidentally, fall in love. This Western romance is part of the McKettrick series.
