Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too * by New Radicals (CD, Oct-1998, MCA Records USA)

This CD is outstanding. Not a weak spot on it. Here is the best Power Pop mixed with such variety -upbeat, from the heart, sad, pure fun without being stupid or weak. Despite the efforts to stay out of the lime-light, Gregg Alexander (THE New Radical)has got my attention.
I would buy anything this guy puts out because his obvious love for sound and distain for cliche is such breath of fresh air. Think Brian Wilson or Phil Spector willing to take more risks for the sound end. Add some lyrical edge and wit of Beck (yeah that'll bite me) or desperation and longing of mid 70's Springsteen.
It took a lot of looking to find out what happen to this guy- Go a record store- you'll find nothing. But then I found out he's also the guy put together Carlos Santana's guitar with Michelle Branches vocals on his song "Game of Love" - Got to admit the guy can mix a little bit of this and a little bit of that and come up with real fresh sound.
Why he wrote/produced one of the biggest Pop tunes of the last 3 years under the name Alex Ander is beyond me- maybe he's got some outstanding warrants or is it some witness protection program from the music-mafia? In 'Get what you Give' he has a young turks swing at the music establishment of the Late 90's.

Outside of Rickey Wright is there anyone out there who can't see that someone needs to tell Courtney Love - her boyfriends left the party and it is time for her to go home. People love to watch a train wreck. Marilyn Manson - artist yes, but it's not about the music. In those days Beck got as much attention with his buttoning his shirt to the top/pocket protector look as his catchly word play - and Hanson? SPLAIN IT TOOO ME RICKEY.
All in all- plug in the CD - Crank it up -& just listen. I grew up in Detroit and can hear the true melting pot of sounds here. Sad to think that Detroit is now better known for giving us knockoffs Kid Rock and Eminem.

Gregg Alexander- the world could use more of your music- where are you?

One great track,the rest is very good.Worthy of anyones iPod.Great driving music."Flowers" and "Gotta stay high" are pure fun."Techicolor Lover' was my personal favourite.What happened to these guys?

This is a fantastic CD and contains one of my all time favorite songs!!
"You Get What You Give" is one for the AGES and gives me "chill bumps" each time I listen to it. I call it "FELL GOOD" Music!!

After a brief misunderstanding, my bad. The product arrived in a very timely manner. The c.d. was in excellent condition, liner notes ,a little water damage. This is one of the beste one hit wonder ever, very good condition CD and "you only get what you need"!

CD in very good condition but would have appreciated a CD case that wasn't all scuffed & cracked. A clean, non-broken case would have made this an excellent purchase.

What I like about this CD is that it expresses a style of individuality not seen in the nineties, or even in this day and age, especially among the youth of this nation.

Gregg alexander has written and recorded, with his group, some very good work that should make people think about what is going on in some parts of society in this country.

As such, I recommend it to anyone who cherishes this music, especially since the New Radicals song, "You Get what You Give", featured on this CD, is one of the great one-hit wonder of the rock era.

This is the best cruzing down the freeway CD you'll ever buy. Worth every dime! Late 90's music at it's best. Aren't you tired of all that negative Rap crap. Put it on for the kids and you when your in a bad mood and everybody will start singing. Even your most jaded teenager will like it!

My children and myself were siting and, talk about music in general! Listen to with are parents! Remanessing! I'd remembered the New Radicals from my Highschool years and, thought they'd enjoy some of my teenage years music!

It was the best present my boyfriend opened on Christmas! I love it too. I just didnt like that the cd had some dirty stuff on it. But it plays good and it was money well spent.
