mathews DXT fully loaded

I have been hunting with a bow for longer than most active achers have been alive. When I decided to replace my old Martin Pro X 10 with something more modern I did alot of research and decided on the Mathews DXT. I just got it in the mail today and after the first 50 arrows, heres My first impression. It is much smaller than what I'm used to but,it will be much easier to use in heavy cover. It's draw cycle is decidedly smoother than the newer Mathews Reezen; which I tried at a local dealer. Bow is extremely smooth and quit, but Im not completely sold on the accuracy yet. It came with a Thophy Ridge Shakey Hunter arrow rest; appears to produce a clean launch,a large bore peep sight; it's not what I'm used to and I don't like it because it's too hard to find the exact center consistently and requires to much eye movement which causes loss of focus on longer shots, a Viper micro-tune sight in lost camo with 6 in. extention; excellent design and quaity and quick adjust features with great extended sight line for improved accuracy (love it), what I believe to be a Feather-Lite 8 in. stabilizer also in lost camo; It's hard to comment on this because I'm still not sure of manufacturer, but it is a 3 rod stabilizer of obvious quality. However, combining it with the extended sight, makes the DXT too front heavy for me and lastly,a Scott release; It's an index finger trigger model (not sure of model number); I will say that it released twice before I intended. I thought I new what a hair trigger was. It will take a while before I'm comfortable enough to trust myself with it in a actual hunting situation. It is a beautiful setup and overall I'm quite pleased. I believe that My accuracy concerns will be over come when I change to a micro-peep and adjust its' postion higher on the string so I don't have to wrench my neck to look through it. Most if not all of my concerns stem from a lack of familiarity with this equipment and I feel comfortable saying I made a great decision for sure on the DXT and Viper sight. Go ahead...buy one! Make every shot count... Dan 173 2/8 typical Whitetail deer. 2nd place P&Y Banquet, Bismarke, S.D. reporting period 1983 and 1984. Taken in Miame county, KANSAS.
