Masters of Horror - Cigarette Burns (2006)
From the man who gave us Michael Myers comes a film about a film that is even deadlier than Michael Myers in a kitchen on Halloween night.
The film follows Kirby Sweetman (Norman Reedus) on his journey to find a lost film that is rumoured to send anyone who has viewed it into a suicidal frenzy (think "The Ring" on steroids)
Although I compared the film in the film to "The Ring", Cigarette Burns has nothing else in common. While it is creepy it doesn't really offer that feeling of dread until the very end.
Norman Reedus (Blade II, Deuces Wild) does a superb job as the main character in this film, as do his co-stars.
The acting, atmosphere, and overall sense of gloom you get from watching Cigarette Burns makes it another Masters of Horror film that hits the nail on the head.
Final Verdict:
3/5
Rent or Buy?: Don't let the 3/5 fool you, this is a great movie. But unless you're trying to fill your Masters of Horror collection, you'll probably do just fine renting Cigarette Burns.
