Holmes has It

YThis is the book for those who want to build quality bolt action rifles from the stick up. Bill Holmes is an old-time gunsmith, who in his later years has share much of his valuable gunsmithing experiences to anyone who can use it to build their own rifles or to use as a reference for any gun-related purpose.
The building shown here is real manufacturing. not just parts-fitting. To employ theses instruction one must have acess and competence in using standard machine shop equipment and practices including a metal lathe.
The only process that is not discussed in detail, is boring barrells from solid blanks, as this is an extremely tedious process and is not cost-effective. However, if you master the machining techniques used for the other parts of the rifle, you could also do this operation as well. But in this book, calibred barrel blanks predrilled are used. So a survival gun-builder would want to keep some of these blanks on hand.
In most US States it is legal to build such rifles for your own personal use--without special licensing. This could change at any time--as our Second Ammendment rights are being quickly eroded by liberals intent of disarming the public for no-telling what to follow.ll Holmes also has a video and book available showing how to make a singe shot bolt action 50 cal BMG rifle. This work also refers to procedures contained in the book reviewed here.
For those serious about gunsmithing and building high-power rifles this text is an an important edition.
