The show's BEST season!

This show is 30 years old, but it's still funnier than most of the sitcoms on TV today because it focused on CHARACTERS rather than trite situations. This season's best episodes capitalized on a simple idea--Mary gives terrible parties--and then milked that simple theme for some of the best sitcom episodes ever like one where Mary accidentally matches her boss, Lou, up with an 80-year-old woman as a date for a big TV event. Plus, the show introduces SueAnn Nivens (Betty White) as TV's first "sex-starved" midlife single woman (I'd say she is the ORIGINAL Samantha!) and brings the hapless anchorman, Ted, to the forefront of comedy, rather than cliche. All in all, this season is hilarious!
