  The show's BEST season!
Review created: 09/01/06

This show is 30 years old, but it's still funnier than most of the sitcoms on TV today because it focused on CHARACTERS rather than trite situations. This season's best episodes capitalized on a simple idea--Mary gives terrible parties--and then milked that simple theme for some of the best sitcom episodes ever like one where Mary accidentally matches her boss, Lou, up with an 80-year-old woman as a date for a big TV event. Plus, the show introduces SueAnn Nivens (Betty White) as TV's first "sex-starved" midlife single woman (I'd say she is the ORIGINAL Samantha!) and brings the hapless anchorman, Ted, to the forefront of comedy, rather than cliche. All in all, this season is hilarious!

The writing and direction on this classic sit-com are second to none. A fine
ensemble cast perform their roles masterfully. This is a classic show which
will stand the test of time much like "I Love Lucy".

Review created: 10/11/09(updated 10/12/09)

PLOT: SEASON FOUR 1974 the Happy Homemaker Joins the CAST~ Lou Gets a divorce and TED meets WALTER CRONKITE~

ONE OF THE BEST SEASONS~ some of the BEST are~ THE LARS AFFAIR~ THE Happy Homemaker is having an affair with LARS~ Chloris Leachman won an emmy for this episode~highlight is the CAT fight between Chloris and Betty ~ THE LOU AND EDIE STORY~ Lou and Edie get a divorce a very painful but sign of the times episode~ ED ASNER SHINES~ LOU'S FIRST DATE~ a very horrible Mary Match~ in a blind date for LOU~ goes very badly~ she is nearly twice HIS age~ and the teasing is endless~ WE WANT BAXTER~ Ted decides to run for political office but has NO clue how to take a stand on anything. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOU~ a suprise party for LOU has LOU only allowing them in one at a time~ BETTER LATE WHAT'S A PUN THAN NEVER~ a tried Mary writes an obituary as a JOKE which in turn hits the WJM air~ and nearly costs her job~ TED BAXTER MEETS WALTER CRONKITE~ TED buys publicity and WINS his first TEDDY and cries his way thru his acceptance speech~hysterical~and meets Walter Cronkite and assumes he is ON his way to BIG FAME~ one of the longest sustained laughs in the series in this episode~ TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A WRITE~ Ted joins Marys night school class and plagarizes her story~

WE ADD SUE ANN NIVENS, AND SEE THE LAST SEASON OF RHODA WHO LEAVES THE SERIES FOR HER OWN PRIME TIME SERIES~ A 10 OUT OF 10 FOR CLASSIC EXCELLENCE~

This season includes alot of the classic MTM shows, like "The Party" with a Henry Winkler appearance.

  Marty Tyler Moore Show
Review created: 10/26/08

Excellent writing, and terrific performance make this a TV classic. Worth watching! I decided to purchase this because, like so many other shows, TV land has not lived up to its purpose of providing quality, and variety of classic TV shows. Currently, this is not in reruns probably because there is an episode "someone" finds politically incorrect. Political incorrectness is a big draw for me.

  Mary Tyler Moore Show

My Daughter and her family live in the Minneapolis area. On one visit we went to see the bronze statue of Mary Tyler Moore throwing her hat into the air the way she did at the beginning of the Mary Tyler Moore Shows. My Grandkids were too young to even know who she was so, I bought them season 1. My 14 year old Granddaughter fell in love with Mary Tyler Moore. I've bought her 1,2,3 and just purchased 4 for her. She thinks they're great!
