Movie Description
With the hilarious, award-winning series THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, creators James L. Brooks and Allan Burns created a platform on which Moore could display her skills as a comedian. Prior to the show, Moore had been known to audiences as Dick Van Dyke's eccentric housewife. With the new series, she emerged as a comedian in her own right, playing an independent, 30-something career woman. Moore plays a quirky reporter at WJM-TV, Minneapolis's lowest-rated evening news show. Moore's Mary Richards shines alongside several equally humorous characters like Lou (Edward Asner), Murray (Gavin MacLeod), Ted (Ted Knight), Phyllis (Cloris Leachman), and Rhoda (Valerie Harper). Asner, Leachman, and Rhoda so impressed audiences that they each went on to star in their own comedy series. This collection includes all the episodes from season three.

    The MTM Show was a landmark in television, and it got better as the seasons went by. Season three is where the quality kicked in to a gear few shows have ever matched; some of these episodes are absolute jewels in the history of TV. "The Good Time News", "Farmer Ted", "It's Whether You Win or Lose" -- these episodes are why I loved The Mary Tyler Moore Show so much, and I'll be laughing whenever I watch them for years to come. Season 3 also had some of MTM's great touching episodes as well. THIS is what the word "classic" was invented to describe.
